What Is Literably Job? It’s Another Transcription Opportunity!
Welcome to my Literably Job review!
Online transcription jobs are quite common, and they’re very lucrative when done right if you find the right company, or if you set up your own transcription business.
Transcription is the process of converting audio files into written files or text files. You are given an audio of just about anything, from medical notes and journals to seminar audio to legal audio files.
You get paid per audio minute based on industry standards. Audio minute is the time it takes you to transcribe a minute’s worth of audio, and not the actual time it takes you to work on it. So an audio minute might take you up to 5 minutes or more to do.
Today, we’re looking at one of the most unique transcription income opportunities called Literably Job.
First of all, I must Congratulate you for taking your time to do your own research before buying into any "seemingly good" product.
That's the way to avoid scams and find the legitimate way to make money online!
Let me be completely transparent with you, I'm not associated with Literably Job in any form.
So, rest assured that I'm not here to pitch or sell anything to you.
Instead, I'm here to reveal what this program is all about...
Literably Job Review Summary
Product Name: Literably Job
Founder: Tyler Borek and Habib Moody
Product Type: Transcription Jobs
Price: Free To Join
Best For: Experienced Transcriptionists
Summary: Literably Job, or Literably, is an income opportunity that lets you take part in transcribing and scoring jobs for schools. It's one of a kind, but the income potential might be low. It has issues with job availability due to it being dependent on school seasons.
What is Literably Job?
Literably Job, or simply Literably, is an online transcription service that acts as a platform for online assessment of grade school students’ oral reading and comprehension abilities.
The company was founded by Tyler Borek and Habib Moody, both with Education degrees straight out of Yale University.
Your job as a transcriber here at Literably Job is to grade children’s accuracy in reading verbally as well as their ability to comprehend what they have read.
You’re also responsible for helping educators identify their students’ weaknesses in their English. Teachers and schools will then be able to come up with an approach to help address these issues.
The students that Literably Job caters to are from grades K to 8, so about 5 to 14 years old.
Inside Literably Job
The signup process is simple. There are two memberships here: one for transcribers or scorers, and one for teachers and schools. Teachers and schools pay a subscription. Transcribers and scorers don’t have to.
To be eligible for the transcriber or scorer job, you have to be at least 18 years old. At this time of writing, they don’t accept applicants from the following states:
- New Jersey
We don’t know the reason as to why applicants from these states don’t get accepted.
You also need a PayPal account to get paid.
How To Take And Pass The Test?
Literably Job accepts applicants worldwide, save for the states mentioned above. They don’t require any specific experience to join the program. But you have to pass the tests before they consider you for a job.
The test takes about 30 minutes to complete and comprises of 6 transcription tasks that you’ll be evaluated on.
The task is to listen to audio files of students readding and comparing them with the written text to identify errors in omissions, poor pronunciation, grammar, and so on.
It’ll take you about 10 to 12 weeks to find out whether you pass or not, so it’s going to take some time. By the time you get feedback, you’ve probably forgotten about it.

Working as a Literably Scorer and Transcriber
When accepted, you’re both taking on the Transcriber and Scorer job at the same time.
Unlike traditional transcription companies, Literably Job has you listening to audio files read by students and comparing them to the actual text. After transcribing the files, you’ll score the students’ performances based on comprehension and accuracy.
What Are The Equipment Requirements?
Of course, you’ll need to have at least the following to be able to work smoothly within Literably Job:
- A consistent and fast Internet connection since audio files may be bigger than normal in terms of file size.
- A private or quiet workspace
- High-res monitor when you can afford it
- Working computer or laptop
Literably Job pays you anywhere between $0.35 to $0.85 per audio minute.
Audio minute is not equal to work minute, so you’re not getting paid by the actual minute. If you’re transcribing a 3-minute audio, then that’s the number of minutes you’re getting paid for.
One audio minute may take up to 5 minutes to transcribe, depending on how well and how experienced you are.
Assuming you’re earning $0.35 per audio minute, an audio hour would be $18. Assuming it would take you 5 minutes to get to an audio minute, you’re going to need at least 300 minutes or 5 hours. That would put you at about $3.6 an hour.
Granted, you’re earning at the bare minimum for the longest time it takes you to complete an audio minute.
However, we looked into some reviews and we got the consensus that beginners can earn anywhere up from $5 to $10 per hour once you get the hang of the entire process.
Note that Literably Job has you doing this as an independent contractor or freelancer. They are not obliged to get you a full-time work, nor are you even considered to be even employed by them.
The amount of work you get will depend on how often you check the site.
Who's Literably Job For?
Literably Job is meant for people who are experienced in transcribing. They can make the most out of this income opportunity.
Literably Job Ugly Truths Revealed!
#1 Slow Approval Process
It takes up to 12 weeks or 3 months to know whether or not you got the position. That’s a long time! By the time you get their feedback, you’ve probably stumbled across a different income opportunity or may have forgotten about it.
#2 Few Jobs During The Summer
There are fewer jobs during the summer and holidays, which is a given because school’s out. In this Covid-19 Pandemic, we’re not sure as to the job availability as well given that some of the students might have dropped out of school or if the schools have cancelled their subs.
#3 Low Income Potential
I would like to reiterate that the income potential MIGHT be low if you’re not going to be able to complete an audio minute in less than 5 minutes. We’ve shown you the math, and you need to be able to do an audio minutes in 3 minutes at most. 4 minutes would be cutting it short.
What I Like About Literably Job?
#1 Available To Everyone!
Literably Job is available to everyone, except for people from selected states in the USA.
That means that if you’re not from the USA, you could literally make a decent amount of money (depending on currency conversion) and earn higher than minimum wage where you’re living.
Is Literably Job a Scam?
Literably Job is a legitimate income opportunity and we have no reason to think that it’s a scam. The income opportunity is there, but it’s not going to guarantee a full-time source.
- There’s issue with job availability given that the jobs rely on schools opening. During the Pandemic, we’re inclined to think that the job availability might be lower than anticipated.
- The approval process takes a long time to complete, so if you’re in a hurry to get a job, this might not be it for you.
But if you want to try this program out, then there’s no harm in trying.
