Is Juice Plus a Scam? (Reasons Why Ex-Members QUIT…)

Chances are, your friend or family member has just shared with you this amazing opportunity called "Juice Plus+" where they claim to bring you both health & wealth.

No matter how you came across this company, I must Congratulate you for taking your time to do your own research before buying into any "seemingly good" product.

That's the way to avoid scams and find the legitimate way to make money online!

To be completely transparent with you, I'm not associated with Juice Plus in any form.

So, rest assured that I'm not here to pitch or sell you anything.

Instead, I've reviewed hundreds of money making opportunities and I'm here to provide you with an unbiased 3rd party review of Juice Plus.

Is Juice Plus a scam? Is it a pyramid scheme? Should I invest my time and money in this opportunity?

Let me reveal to you the ugly truths that you need to know...

Juice Plus claim themselves to be “the next best thing to eating fruits and vegetables” and they want to "bridge the gap between what you should eat and what you do eat every day".

Can Juice Plus really "replace" real fruits & vegetables?

I doubt so and this is what you need to know...

Juice Plus+ is NOT a MLM Company!

Juice Plus+ has a pretty complicated background which you need to understand if you're considering this business.

Juice Plus is a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) business opportunity, but it's NOT a MLM company on its own.

Instead, it's just a branded line of dietary supplements containing concentrated fruit & vegetable juice extracts fortified with added vitamins & nutrients, which is marketed via the MLM business model.

Let me briefly explain why it's not a MLM company and the story behind it...

Jay Martin founded the company called "National Safety Associates (NSA)" back in 1970.

Since then, he had created multiple product lines including home fire detectors in the 1970s, water filters in the early 1980s and air filters in the late 1980s.

Juice Plus is just another product line founded in 1993 under NSA.

In fact, it's the first nutritional product line of this company.

However, Juice Plus products are actually manufactured by another company called National Alternatives International (NAI).

That's why I said it's pretty complicated.

All you need to know is this:

• Juice Plus is just a nutritional product line under National Safety Associates (NSA) which was founded by Jay Martin
• Since 1993, National Alternatives International (NAI) started producing Juice Plus products for NSA
• Juice Plus eventually became large enough to be regarded as a MLM opportunity on its own

That's why some people thought Juice Plus is a company. In reality, the company behind Juice Plus is actually NSA.

Juice Plus Product Line

Almost all health & wellness MLM companies are producing different yet similar nutritional supplements. (e.g. Usana, Youngevity, Forever Living, etc...)

When the nutritional supplement market is becoming more like a competitive red ocean, Juice Plus is producing pretty unique supplements which are based around real fruits and vegetables.

Nobody can explain better than Juice Plus themselves. So let's take a look at this video:

In a few simple steps, this is what Juice Plus does:

1. They "juiced" fruits & vegetables
2. Remove carbohydrates from the juice
3. Add in vitamins and other nutrients
4. Dehydrate the juice and put them into pills

And that's basically how they create their unique supplements as a way to "replace" fruits and vegetables.

Here are their flagship products:

• Orchard blend (fruit juice powder-based supplement) - Contains apple, peach, cranberry, orange, papaya, acerola cherry, pineapple, prune, date and beet.
• Garden blend (vegetable juice powder-based capsules) - Contains broccoli, parsley, tomato, carrot, garlic, beet, spinach, cabbage, oat bran, rice bran and kale.

Other products they have include meal replacement shakes, soups & bars.

Just like any other MLM businesses, there are 2 main ways for you to make money with Juice Plus:

1. Sell their products and earn retail commissions
2. Recruit people and build your downline teams to earn various bonuses and incentives

But before that, here's what you need to do to get started...

How to Get Started with Juice Plus?

First of all, you need to pay a $50 one-time signup fee, which include basic training, marketing materials, your custom website, back office and some other resources to help you get started with the business.

Apart from that, you need to maintain a monthly order of around $70 minimum.

Juice Plus Compensation Plan

The screenshot below pretty summarizes the whole Juice Plus compensation plan:

As you can see, there are 7 ranks in total. More commissions, bonuses and incentives will be unlocked as you climb up the ranks.

For example, you can only earn Retail Sales Profit as a distributor (lowest rank).

When you climb up to the rank of Direct Distributor, you can earn an additional 6% commission on top of your Retail Sales Profit.

The higher your rank, the higher your commission percentage.

That's the basic concept of their compensation plan.

But in order for you to advance in ranks, recruiting is inevitable.

The more people you recruit, the faster you can advance in ranks. That's just the way it is for such typical MLM business.

1. Product Effectiveness is Very Subjective

The most common yet controversial question...

Do Juice Plus supplements work?

To be honest, just like nutritional products from any company, the effectiveness is very subjective.

Some people can experience huge positive impacts on their body while some don't feel anything at all.

So, the ONLY way for you to find out if it works is by trying it out yourself.

Just take a look at the following screenshots and let me prove to you:

As you can see, there's really a mix of positive and negative reviews on Juice Plus.

2. Sneaky Monthly Subscription

Listen to this carefully as I really hate this point...

You cannot buy products individually. You must buy on monthly subscription plan and the minimum plan starts with a 4-month commitment.

What does this mean?

For example, their "Orchard & Garden Blend capsules" cost $93/month. But you cannot just purchase one package of these capsules.

Instead, when you purchase this, you're automatically subscribed to their 4-month autoship.

You have to pay $93 for 4 consecutive months and they'll ship to you the capsules every month.

They claim that because it takes at least 4 months for your body to feel the difference.

Is it really true? I can't answer that for you because like I've said, it's subjective.

However, what I can promise you is that this is one of the tactics they use to make more money from you.

Agree?

It's like an automatic 4-month autoship for them. Instead of making $93 from you, they're now making $372 from just one of your purchase.

But the worst part is that some of the unethical distributors are not transparent about this autoship so there are quite a lot of complaints regarding unwanted credit card charges or unable to cancel autoship things like that.

3. Recruit, Recruit, Recruit...

Another major problem is the heavy dependency on recruitment.

Like I've mentioned, your commission is determined on your rank and your rank is determined by the amount of people you recruit and the performance of your downline team.

And the worst part about their recruitment is that they're still relying on the traditional way of recruiting:

• Create a list of your friends and family members
• Try to connect & meet up with them to sell them the products and the business opportunity

In fact, this is one of the main reasons why most people failed at this business because they ran out of prospects and they don't have the necessary skills to recruit people the right way.

4. Inappropriate Marketing Tactics

Apart from the problematic recruiting, there's another more shady part of their business strategy.

Ex-members have shared that their upline asked them to use Facebook and literally SPAM other people.

This is what they were told to do:

• Publish at least 10 FB posts a day mostly about product posts and "fake order posts"
• Add 10 new friends on FB a day and message them

Isn't that spamming?

Let's face it...

We've all received that kind of spammy promotional messages in our inbox before. So, do you think this strategy is effective?

Obviously not.

Regarding the "fake posts" I mentioned, some examples include:

• Making up fake names and thank them for their order
• Post congratulation posts for fake people's achievements
• They were even told to post those fake "before & after" weight loss pictures from somewhere else claiming that those are the success stories of their nutritional products

There's one famous saying that goes like this...

Fake it till you make it!

But I really don't think this is the correct way of interpreting it.

It's unethical and unacceptable to do those stuff on social media.

By the way, I didn't make up all these myself. These were shared by ex-members who have quit Juice Plus!

5. Not Transparent

Last but not least, Juice Plus does not have an official income disclosure statement which is necessary for all MLM companies to disclosure their earning potential.

They've been in business for a long time so I'm not sure why they're not disclosing it.

But my guessing is that the stats are really discouraging.

I'm gussing at least 95% of the people failed to even make a profit because that's the general stats for all MLM companies I've reviewed so far.

1. Long History

One advantage of Juice Plus is that they have been in business for a very long time since 1993.

In other words, they've survived over 25 years.

More importantly, NSA, the company behind Juice Plus has been around for over 45 years since 1970.

If Juice Plus is a scam or pyramid scheme or anything like that, they should be shut down by authorities like FTC long ago.

1. Lots of Clinical Research

On their website, you can find lots of clinical research studies regarding their products:

They've done lots of research on how their products can benefit out body in the areas of gums, heart, immune system, DNA, skin and many more issues.

While this may seem reliable, there are actually a lot of conflicts and controversial arguments going around these studies.

Although Juice Plus claims its products are backed by research, critics have argued that there is no scientific proof that Juice Plus offers significant health benefits and that deceptive claims are used in the product's marketing information.

Many marketing claims made about Juice Plus products are false or misleading.

There's also no evidence showing that Juice Plus is any better than a regular multivitamin.

In fact, many of the studies on Juice Plus have been widely criticized for being industry-funded. In other words, those studies are paid and biased.

In my opinion, just take these clinical researches as a reference but don't base any of your purchasing decision on them.

Fair enough?

No, Juice Plus is NOT a scam, nor is it a pyramid scheme.

Product-wise, taking Juice Plus supplements which contain fruits & vegetable extracts will definitely increase your vitamin and mineral intake.

However, they are NOT intended to replace the real fruits and vegetables that you should consume because there is definitely a difference between consuming real foods versus taking supplements.

Business-wise, you can really make money from this business if you adopt the right recruiting and sales skills.

However, I don't recommend Juice Plus as a good way to make money because:

• The success rate is too low
• There's a lot a emphasis on recruiting, especially your friends and family members
• You'll be asked to use unethical marketing tactics to misled people on social media

In fact, there were many people who quit Juice Plus.

One of them was interviewed and asked this question: "Why did you leave?"

He said...

"Because it was costing me more than I was making, and I felt I was constantly on my phone messaging people and hassling them."

I think this makes a pretty good conclusion for Juice Plus as a business overall.

I'm not a fan of MLM, not because it's illegal or not profitable, but because of all the restrictions and the expensive costs involved.

Instead, Affiliate Marketing is my top recommended business model for anyone to make money online.
