How to Make More Affiliate Sales without an Increase in Traffic?

Affiliate Marketing is one of the smartest ways to make money as a blogger.

Unfortunately, as we yelp for more affiliate sales, we are being tuned to neglect the nitty-gritty of this huge income earner.

As a matter of fact, the more search engine natural traffic you get, the more sales you stand to make as an affiliate marketer. This cannot be disputed at all.

Do you also know you can increase affiliate sales and commissions without a necessary increase in traffic?

And, the good news is that I’m going to show you how to do that in this post. This is not based on theory.  This is what I do on my blog and I have results to prove it.

I have been in this business for years. I made my first affiliate marketing commissions back in 2010 thanks to Wealthy Affiliate University which I highly recommend.

I have tried the ins and outs of the business so I’m here to share just what’s best. These are proven working method that will blow your income to the moon with time.

And yes! It’s not anything near a get-rich-quick trick. What you are about to read are steps that will slowly but surely build a sustainable source of income for you and your next generations.

Before we go any further, I want to encourage you do not neglect growing your traffic. While you're going to be able to generate more affiliate sales with your existing traffic, driving more targeted readers would only mean more sales.

There are many ways bloggers make money.

In one of the articles on my blog, I wrote about 15 different ways bloggers make money blogging on and off their blogs.

Affiliate Marketing is one of these ways and it happens to be the most exciting.

Take a look at income reports of top bloggers like Pat Flynn, Matthew Woodward, Harsh Agrawal, and many others.

One thing you will notice is that Affiliate Marketing is top income earner.

Few years ago, I invited some industry leaders including John Chow, Neil Patel, Zac Johnson, Brian Dean, Yaro Starak, Lisa Irby, and many others to my blog to share with us how they make money as bloggers.

If you read that post, you would notice that Affiliate Marketing cuts across their monetizing methods.

Here is the thing…

• Affiliate Marketing is easy to start. You can start right this moment with zero capital.
• You don’t need any product creation skills at all.
• No product maintenance, update and upgrade charges.
• No after sales service and many more...

As a matter of fact, the product author does all the brainstorming, creation and maintenance of the product. He handles the delivery and customer services and does everything that’s required to keep the market going.

All you have to do is drive traffic, make sales and bank commissions.

We are on it now!

I want to help you with the exact steps I took on my blog to boost sales without any necessary increase in traffic.

Assuming you have just 100 daily readers and your blog makes $500 a month.

Then nothing has changed at your traffic level. With the same number of readers, how do you step up your earnings?

Let me say this…

Your blog is your marketplace and your readers are your buyers. You are the only marketer warranted to sale. Everyone else in your market is a potential buyer. But not every one of them is going to buy at any giving moment.

Knowing WHY your readers visit your blog is crucial.

In this post on PAC, I wrote on 7 different reasons people read your blog. 

A good number of these readers don't have the intention of buying anything. They just want to educate themselves, connect with you or get some information for some purpose.

Let's now see how to turn them into buying readers or customers, alright?

In today’s Internet World, people don’t just buy product based on its long list of features or the beauty of the sales page.

While folks want products that help them get results, they want to be sure what they buy is what they get.

Beside other proofs that this or that product is awesome, buyers most often want a recommendation from a trusted user.

That’s why you must establish yourself as a trusted marketer.

Here is how to gain that trust from your readers:

• Be a real person. Use your picture and contact information on your blog. Take a look at Jerry’s blog here. This completely discards any suggestion of doubt about his authenticity. As soon as I came to his blog for the very first time, I knew I was to deal with a real marketer.
• Respond to comments and messages on your blog. Be personal and prove to your readers you are reliable.
• If you are reviewing and promoting any product, be unbiased.
• Don’t promote crap. If you dare say product A is excellent and your readers find out it’s crap, you completely ruin their trust. So do not put your reputation on the line by promoting some low value products to earn some commissions.

This brings us to the next point...

I know folks advise you go to Clickbank, grab a related product and tell your readers about it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. But listen…

If you promote products you use, you will have a stronger sales power. You will be able to come up with elements that will push readers to a buying decision.

Again, this brings us to the next point...

You see why I recommend you to promote products that you use. Note that man is programmed to copy what works for others.

If you’re using product A and seeing magnificent results, you just need to tell your readers, "hey guys I use this product and this is how it works for me".

Trust me, most of them are going to try and copy your steps, thereby sending you to the bank.

This is a very powerful step in this process.

If you are using a product that works well for you, it does not suffice to tell your readers you are having fun with it. Teach them the exact steps you've taken to get those same results.

I encourage you create multiple ‘How-To’ blog posts around that product. This should be focused on your results not demo data from producer.

It’s important you let your readers know you are showing them what you are doing.

Most affiliate marketing platforms now have tools to generate unique discount codes for their affiliates. This is a huge sales factor.

If the product you are promoting has this facility, make good use of it to boost your commissions.

Get in touch with the product author and request for a unique coupon that’s only available on your blog for your readers.

They will feel catered for and that will bring them closer to buying decision.  They are going to want to take the opportunity of that special reduction to buy the product.

I have had a good experience with this. If the product author can get a unique sales page for you, that will be an awesome option.

Once your readers click and find out it’s like you are directly involved with the product, they will bring out their credit cards.

I have had a couple of my readers tell me they bought this and that product because I recommended it and this makes me excited to share with you these tips.

I want you to know what I’m asking you to do is what I do on my blog and I see the kind of results you are going to get.

When I moved my blog from http to https protocol, while I was happy with it, I ran into a big problem. I completely lost all social share counts on my social buttons. It was a big blow to my social proof as my blog suddenly looked new (with no tweets, no likes, no pluses, etc)

To correct this issue, I purchased a plugin known as warfareplugins.

This was a massive opportunity for me to get back my counts and make money.

My blog was formally hosted by Hostgator. But I soon ran into serious issues and had worrying delays with the customer service.

My pingdom.com speed report soared to over 10 seconds, which was the worst I ever saw.

I moved my blog to WPX Hosting and there was a remarkable difference.

• I’m using it personally
• And I have wonderful results

So I created this blog post in which I tagged WPX Hosting as the fastest WordPress Hosting Provider.

As a matter of fact, there is no way you can avoid sales with these results.

Again, these are steps I've personally taken on my blog to increase affiliate sales without having to increase traffic. As you can see, it works.
