What is Slice The Pie?
Unlike normal paid surveys sites, Slice The Pie is a paid review platform where they pay you to review musics and some other physical products.
Basically, STP is a platform for unsigned artists to upload their music and for fashion designers to upload their products to get feedback to help them improve.
For STP members (they call it the "scouts"), you'll be paid for your constructive feedback/review on the songs.
STP has recently expanded their business and partnered with fashion retailers in the US and UK to offer its members an option to review physical products instead of just musics.
How to Make Money with Slice The Pie?
There are 2 ways to make money with STP:
- Submit reviews and get paid
- Refer friends to join STP (10% commission)
Get Paid by Submitting Reviews
After you've signed up with STP (Completely FREE to join), you'll be asked about what you want to review, music or other physical/fashion products.
Here's the process of reviewing a song:
- Listen to the song for 90 seconds
- Write what you feel about the song and how it can be improved (Constructive feedback on vocals, instrumentals, rhythm, production, etc. Minimum 60 words.)
- Choose a rating between 1 to 10 for the song
- Click on submit and you'll be rewarded according to your star rating (I'll explain what this is later)
- Once you reach the payout threshold amount of $10, you can cash out to your PayPal account.
Things to take note:
- The name of the song and the artist will not be shown until you've submitted the review to ensure you give an unbiased review.
- You must listen to the music for at least 90 seconds before you can submit your review.
- Slice The Pie is very strict at the quality of the review so it's very hard to cheat their system. You need to write truly unique content for your review. Simply copy and paste or keep writing the same review will not work.
- There are system in place to prevent you from submitting too many reviews within a certain period of time.
- The quality of your review will determine your own "member star rating". Higher star rating means you are consistently writing quality and constructive reviews to help the artists or designers. At first, you'll start out with $0.01 to $0.02 per review. When you have a higher star rating, you can earn up to $0.05 per review or more.
The process of reviewing a fashion product is very similar to reviewing music. But instead of commenting on things like rhythm, you'll be giving feedback on the picture, the description, the material, etc and whether you'll purchase the product.
Similarly, give a rating for the product between 1 to 10 and you're done. The reward for reviewing fashion products seem to be higher than reviewing music. You can earn up to $0.10 or $0.20 per review.
Get Paid by Referring Friends
After you've signed up with STP, you can access your own invitation code and link which you can share it with your friends and invite them to join STP.
You'll be able to earn 10% commission from all the money your referral make for 1 year after they've written their first review.
But seriously, that's very little money!

Pros & Cons
The Good
1. Slicethepie is Legit
No matter how scammy it may sound - "make money by listening to musics", Slice The Pie is a legitimate platform that do pay their members.
There are plenty of members showing the screenshots of their paycheck from STP. So, you can definitely make some extra cash with STP if you're willing to put in the time and effort.
2. This can be Fun
For those music enthusiast, this can be a fun thing to do. They may like to listen to new music especially those music that are not available to the public yet. And they can get paid a little for listening to these music.
So, this can be suitable for music enthusiasts. But the pre-requisite is that they are truly passionate about music and making money is just a bonus.

The Bad
1. Very Strict Censorship
One of the most common complaints from members is that their reviews were rejected no matter how unique and original they were.
Sometime it's because of the use of words and phrases. STP's system is very particular about the quality of your review so their strict system pissed a lot of people off.
There are even accounts being closed down or suspended due to poor reviews (according to STP). See example below from TrustPilot:
2. Delayed Payout
When you reach the payout threshold of $10, you'll be able to cash out your money to your PayPal account. However, there will be a delay of up to 5 working days before the money can land in your PayPal because your reviews will be "reviewed" once again by a real human to make sure that your reviews are valid.
What's even worse is that your review may still get rejected by "real human" at this point of time. So, what this means is that they may not pay you because they feel your review is not unique or constructive enough.
3. It's Not Worth Your Time
Seriously, do you think making $0.05 per review is worthwhile for the time you spent?
Let's do some calculation...
For example you can do one review every 90 seconds (which is the music length you're required to listen) and you make $0.05 per review.
That's equivalent to making $2 per hour!!
How pitiful is that?
Despite reviewing music and get paid is a relatively unique business model, the ability to make money is still the same as those paid surveys sites or even worse.
It's definitely not worth your time!
Better Ways to Make Money Writing Reviews
In fact, if you like to write reviews, there are a lot more profitable method to make money, instead of taking paid surveys or writing reviews on STP.
Being a freelance writer allows you to earn around $25 per hour or even $4,000 per month in this case. That's obviously a lot better than $2 per hour writing reviews on STP.
Apart from that, my top recommended way is to become a blogger and affiliate marketer.
Basically, you can setup a website focusing on your interest and write product reviews in that niche.
This can potentially allow you to make a full-time passive income online so that you don't have to work for anybody anymore.
Setting up a your own website is extremely easy today. I can help you build your own website in under 5 minutes.
