In the early days of SEO, Google's way to determine the topic of your page was mostly by looking at the keyword density. If the keyword appears for more than a certain amount of times within the page, Google saw that as the topic of the page.
However, due to the advancement in Google's algorithms, it can now better understand the true topic of your page by the content itself. It is a lot more difficult to "trick" Google by using keywords. Studies have shown that Google now prefers contents that are:

- In-depth (Comprehensive content)
