Summary: SeneGence International is an established MLM company that's been around for nearly 2 decades. They provide beauty and personal care products, with LipSense as their flagship product. Now, they have a decent compensation plan in place, which is as solid as it can get, but they are flooded with other issues that make it impossible for any distributor to earn a serious income with their business.
What is SeneGence?
SeneGence International is a multi-level marketing company that was established in 1999 but Joni Rogers – Kante. The company was founded, and still operates, in Irvine, California.
SeneGence International operates under the beauty and fashion products and their main goal is to offer women with the opportunity to work from home by selling products that they love.
And LipSense is SeneGence’s premier flagship product that is loved by a lot of women.
SeneGence Product Line
As mentioned, LipSense is SeneGence International’s flagship product and it is what’s the company’s known for.
Now, SeneGence International works develops beauty, skin care, anti-aging, and others. Their products are categorized under:
They have a wide array of products being sold and marketed to both their distributors and retail customers. But their main focus is on anti-aging and personal care. They also provide the same product lines as Jeunesse, Arbonne, and Younique, just to name a few.
SeneGence also claims that
- Their products are not tested on animals
- They use no animal bi-products
- They use naturally reoccurring natural ingredients
- Products are formulated with FDA approved ingredients
- Products are made under a “Pharmaceutical Grade” rated manufacturing facility
- Products are made in the USA for stringent quality control
- Products are Gluten and GMO-free (Most products, they say)
- LipSense does not contain any wax or lead.
Do Their Products Work?
Unfortunately, their claims about their products don’t seem to match what other people are saying about their products.
I did some digging around for their product reviews and I was quite to see that they have more negative reviews than positive reviews. If I were to turn it into a ratio, 2 out of 10 reviews would be positive.
I read reviews about products giving them allergies and irritations, skin rash, pimples, and shedding skin just to start with.
So, basically their claims about using natural, FDA-approved ingredients and produced under a “Pharmaceutical Grade” rated manufacturing facility are questionable.
On top of their products, packaging is also an issue as customers have complained that some of the products they ordered have their plastic seals tampered with.
Would this have something to do with all of the health issues associated with their products?
Even if there is no correlation with compromised product packaging, the fact remains that SeneGence International doesn’t have full quality control as they claimed.

How To Make Money With SeneGence?
Now, much like any other MLM company, SeneGence International provides you with 2 options to earn money:
- Selling their products (online and offline)
- Getting people to join your team to earn commission from their sales
SeneGence International doesn’t do anything unique in terms of their business opportunities, which is a bit of a disappointment for me since they’re an international company and are as famous as Young Living and Usana Health Sciences.
How To Get Started With SeneGence?
In order to join SeneGence International, you have to sign up as their distributor.
You’ll be asked to pay a distributor membership fee, which costs $55 plus a purchase of their Distributor Business Kit, which is around $75 for the LIPS kit and $295 for the Glamour Demo Kit.
So you’re looking at an initial payment of $425, which is pretty above average in terms of sign-up costs.
Then you’ll have the option of availing of their Distributor Training Package, which costs $550.
The training package includes:
- Weekly Online Training
- SeneGence Website ($300/year renewal)
- Seminar General Seating
- SeneU Event Registration
- PIT Stop Registration
- SeneMedia Collection
- SeneLibrary Training Materials
- MSF Donation
- Launch Demo
Frankly, the training package is a bit expensive, especially when you combine it with your initial sign up costs. Right off the bat, you’re investing $975 just to get started.
SeneGence Compensation Plan
The SeneGence compensation plan requires their distributors to purchase products every month in order to qualify for their commissions.
SeneGence commission qualifications
To do so, they need to purchase 300PV worth of products, which is seen in their compensation plan.
This kind of puts their distributors in a bad place because they need to be constantly churning out sales in order to get their stocks and their commissions.
I’ll get to why that’s not entirely a good thing in the succeeding paragraphs.
1. Retail Commissions
Whenever a SeneGence distributor sells products to retail customers, they earn commission. SeneGence doesn’t disclose how much commission is earned per order.
2. Residual Commissions
This is where the recruitment part comes in. SeneGence pays residual commissions based on their unilevel compensation structure.
The unilevel compensation structure places the distributor at the top of the team, and every personally recruited member placed under them, or a 1st level tier. Any recruit acquired by their recruit falls under the 2nd level tier. And so on and so forth down a theoretical infinite number of levels.
But with their model, SeneGence caps the payables at unilevel levels at the 5th level and these commissions are based on the first 100PV purchased by their recruited distributors in the team.
The number of levels a SeneGence distributor can earn is also based on much they spend on products each month.
The more they products they purchase, the more levels they can earn through. Based on their compensation plan, you have to purchase at least 100PV to earn commission on the first 3 levels. You need to purchase 200PV or higher to earn through your 5 levels.
It’s a bit of a disappointment for me when I saw that they cap the payables at a certain level. That would’ve been a great incentive for the distributors to build a better and more solid team.
Here's a video that explains their compensation plan in greater detail:
SeneGence Ugly Truths Revealed
#1 - No Income Disclosure Statement
I have said it once in my other reviews, and I will say it again here: the absence of any income disclosure statements will always be a big turndown for potential distributors.
Why? An income disclosure statement is simply a document that allows people to see how much distributors within that company are earning. For me, this is a marketing ploy for a company to get people to join them.
This is as transparent as any company can get because this gives customers an outside-looking-in perspective.
Remember, that MLM companies don’t provide you with any form of fixed income (like a salary), so these statements are how much each tier or level earn per year and the percentage
Because they don’t have any income disclosure statement, it’s safe for me to assume the following:
- That their distributors are not earning enough money through profit or through commissions
- That they are not confident about their compensation plan, so they’re not bothered to share how much their people are potentially earning
They have to convince people that their initial investment of close to a thousand dollars is going to be worth it in the long run.
#2 - There Are Stock Issues
Most distributors have complained about SeneGence having stock issues, which is a big turn off for any one who’s trying to make a decent income stream out of retail sales.
For any retail business out there, being out of stock is a HUGE problem because they are missing out on potential sales.
For SeneGence and their distributors, stocks of their products are always the main concern. A company’s ability to give you a decent profit margin on their product is useless if they cannot consistently give you the quantity of stocks that YOU NEED to earn money.
Check out what their distributors are saying about their stock problems:
If you don’t want to deal with any physical products, you’re better off with other forms of making money online like affiliate marketing.
#3- The Upfront and Maintenance Costs Are Expensive
SeneGence International is still an MLM company at heart, and they are not even trying to hide it. Like most MLM’s, their business opportunities are not that different from the others.
But when you compare the costs of getting started with the business with other MLM companies, SeneGence is very expensive. It's also expensive to maintain because you have to constantly purchase a minimum amount of products in order for you to enjoy your residual commissions.
#4 - You're Still Recruiting People
SeneGence International's compensation plan makes it look like you can't fully rely on just selling the products alone to really make it worth your while.
Just like any other MLM company, you still end up recruiting people so you can earn commission through them. Now, what sucks about their recruitment part is that they cap your earnings at a certain level.
Not only are you asked to jump hoops to make SeneGence work for you, your potential income is limited by how many they allow you to earn commissions from.
What I Like About SeneGence?
#1 - It's An Established MLM Company
If you have to go with a company that’s been around, you can’t go wrong with SeneGence International if this is your only basis of working with an MLM company and nothing else.
Because they’ve been around for close to 20 years now, it’s safe to assume that the money you invest in today won’t disappear tomorrow.
#2 - They Have Decent Profit Margins
I wish I could’ve seen how much people are paying on wholesale for their products. Based on their compensation plan, the product discount ranges between 20% and 50%, which is not that bad.
With a 20% discount, it would be safe to assume that you’d probably gross around a 20% profit and net somewhere between 5% and 10% profit outside of all fees.
Again, if you’re going to compare that with retail industry standards for profit margins, I’d say that SeneGence is right on the level.
Is SeneGence a Scam?
SeneGence International is completely legitimate and has a decent compensation plan in place.
There’s money to be made here as long as you’re aware of the work and the money that needs to be invested in this venture.
Remember that MLM’s promise you a “Get Rick Quick” kind of lifestyle, but it has never happened, and SeneGence won’t be the first one to do that either.
As much as they look good on paper, I cannot recommend their opportunity to anyone because they don’t have transparency and consistency.
They don’t have transparency because they don’t have an income disclosure statement.
They don’t have consistency because they’re always out of stock of their products.
For me, there are better opportunities to earn money online and SeneGence is not one of them.
How I Make A Living Online?
I'm not a fan of MLM, not because it's illegal or not profitable, but because of all the restrictions and the expensive costs involved.
Instead, Affiliate Marketing is my top recommended business model for anyone to make money online.
The reason is simple...
- You don't have to recruit anyone to make money
- You have the freedom to promote any products you want and not being restricted to only promote the products from one MLM company
- It's Free to get started
In fact, with affiliate marketing...
