Is Plexus a Scam? – The “Pink Drink” Myth Exposed! [Review]

Pink drink, pink drink, pink drink...

Chances are, someone has just introduced to you some magical pink color drink from Plexus that claims to help you lose weight. Or you can even make a living from selling these pink drinks.

First of all, I must Congratulate you for taking your time to do your own research before buying into any "seemingly good" product.

That's the way to avoid scams and find the legitimate way to make money online!

To be completely honest with you, I'm not associated with Plexus in any form.

So unlike those Plexus distributors trying to pitch you all these products & business opportunities, I'm here to give you an honest 3rd party review for Plexus.

Is pink drink really that powerful? Or is Plexus a scam? Pyramid scheme?

Let me reveal to you the shocking truths...

Plexus or Plexus Global is a health & wellness Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) company selling weight loss and nutritional products. (Similar to Optavia, another MLM selling weight loss products)

It's founded by Tarl Robinson in 2006 and the company is based is Arizona.

Plexus is a very controversial company because its growth over the past few years was quite impressive yet there are lots of complaints fired against them.

Since this is a network marketing company, there are 2 main aspects to their business:

1. Their unique and controversial products
2. Business opportunity to make money

Let's first take a look at the products they're selling...

Plexus Product Line

There are 5 main categories in their product line:

1. Weight Management - Powders & supplements to control your diet
2. Nutrition - All sorts of supplements for different purposes to boost your health
3. Skincare - "Joyome" is their trademarked skincare product line with 2 main products "Day Serum" and "Night Repair"
4. Personal Care - Body cream & breast check kit 
5. Combos - Combination of different product packages for different purposes like hunger control and family package

To be honest, their main focus is on weight loss and all the others are just there for the sake of having more products to meet more people's needs.

As I mentioned in the beginning, their flagship product is this thing called "Pink Drink" because of its color:

The official name of this product is called "Plexus Slim". It's basically a powder mix for you to consume before meals serving the purpose of controlling your hunger.

To be honest, not just me but many people are skeptical as well, especially there's a lack of evidences to prove their claims.

They simply said their products are "clinically tested" but there's no official proof given which is really suspicious.

To determine whether it's really safe, we need to know what's inside the powder. The main ingredients include:

• Green coffee bean extract
• Garcinia Cambogia
• Alpha lopoic acid
• Chromium
• Flavoring, sweetening & color agents (RED FLAG!)
• Beet extract (for the pink color)

I'm not a Chemist or health expert so I can't say much about these. All I can tell you is that from my research, there are lots of problem with these ingredients.

What's even worse is that many people suffer from serious side-effects (details & proofs in a second!)

Since Plexus is a MLM business, the 2 main ways for you to make money are:

1. Sell their products & earn retail commission
2. Recruit people to join your downline and build this business with you

But before that, there are some requirements you need to meet...

How to Get Started with Plexus?

First of all, you need to pay a $34.95 sign up fee to become an "Associate".

Unlike other MLM companies, Plexus Associates CANNOT promote their products and earn commission. The only thing Associates can do is to buy products at wholesale price. That's all!

If you want to run this as a business and make money, you need to purchase additional product packages priced at either $99 or $199.

With that, you're now considered as the "Ambassador" of Plexus and you can start selling and recruiting people.

However, there's another requirement.

In order to stay active and qualify for commission, you still need to incur a $100/month autoship, which is pretty common to MLMs.

To be honest, such pricing is considered quite cheap as compared to other MLMs. Some companies require you to purchase product packages up to a thousand dollar.

However, a $200+ startup cost can still be a financial burden for some.

Plexus Compensation Plan

There are 11 ways for you to make money with Plexus:

1. Retail Rewards Commissions - Buy products at wholesale price and sell them at retail price to earn the difference
2. Retail Rewards Override Commissions - Additional 5% override commission from the sales volume of your Level 1 downline Ambassadors
3. Preferred Customer Bonus - Commissions earned when your customer join as Associates (Preferred Customer) and purchase products
4. One-Time Achievement Bonus - One-time commission when you achieve certain ranks
5. Fast Start Achievement Bonus - Special bonus that rewards new Ambassadors who achieve the mock rank level of Gold, Senior Gold, Ruby or Senior Ruby within the first 30 days of becoming a Plexus Ambassador.
6. Business Building Bonus - Commissions for selling the $99 or $199 Welcome Pack
7. Plexus Points - Bonus for helping your downline Ambassadors to reach 100PV (sales volume) per month and beyond
8. Emerald Pool Bonus
9. Sapphire Pool Bonus
10. Diamond Pool Bonus
11. Earn a Diamond Re-Entry Position

The last 4 bonuses are for the minority people who are able to reach the top rank in the company.

1. Numerous Side Effects

Despite Plexus claimed that their products are clinically tested, there are still a lot of problems because they don't have any proofs to show.

But the side effects are real. There are real customers experiencing numerous side effects from consuming Plexus products, such as:

• Heartburn
• Upset stomach
• Abdominal pain
• Nervousness
• Anxiety
• Nausea
• Constant headache
• Dizziness
• Dull chest pain
• Stomach pains
• Constipation
• Shakiness
• Increased heart rate

This is a really long list of side effects.

Here's one proof from people who have tried their products before:

This particular person was experiencing severe abdominal pain and doctor advised him/her to stop taking Plexus pink drink.

If you think this is just one case-by-case issue, you're wrong.

There are tons of people complaining about their health being affected after using Plexus products. I'm just showing you this one particular evidence as an example.

2. Brain-washed Distributors

Another major concern is that I highly suspect most of their distributors (Ambassadors) are brain-washed!

For example, if their customer complain to them that they have severe abdominal pain, they'll tell them that's normal reaction and everything will be fine things like that.

There are many case where their distributors can say anything just to get a sale.

I really wonder how they educate their fellow members and distributors.

Horrible!

3. Tons of Customer Complaints

To date, there are over 600 customer complaints on Better Business Bureau (BBB) mostly about their billing issues and poor products & services.

For example, there have been cases where customers were unable to cancel their autoship and Plexus just kept charging them money.

There are also cases where Plexus didn't honor their refund policy. Their customer service was simply unreachable.

Look! I'm not making this up all by myself. I also understand all companies may have a few of such issues.

But take a look at this:

How would you explain this?

658 total customer complaints and 114 negative reviews which far outweigh the 67 positive reviews.

This shows that there's a huge problem with Plexus, right? Don't you think so?

4. Unsubstantiated Health Claims 

Tarl Robinson, founder of Plexus, has received a warning from FDA for making false claims on the Plexus website and illegally marketed their products as drugs saying that Plexus supplements can treat medical conditions.

For example, there are claims saying that certain supplements can cure eczema, arthritis, chronic pain or even auto immune diseases. (Proofs here!)

I really don't understand how do these relate to weight loss...

Such things just happen for these poor quality health & wellness MLM company.

Another example is LifeVantage which also received warning letter from FDA about similar issue.

5. Deceptive Income Claims

Apart from unsubstantiated health claims, distributors are also making bold claims about their luxurious lifestyles and using deceptive income claims to lure people into their business. (Proofs here!)

Such acts are unacceptable and aren't in compliance with FTC rule because those income claims are not the norm.

This leads us to the next point where the norm is that MOST PEOPLE FAILED!

6. Extremely Low Success Rate

This is the exact same problem for most MLM companies as well. But it's even more serious for Plexus as you can see in their income disclosure below:

More than 95% of the distributors earn less than $3,778 per year.

82.41% of all the distributors only earn $301 in a year.

What?!

Where's the luxurious lifestyle?

Those are only for less than 1% of the distributors who made it to the top.

I'm not saying it's impossible for you to make money with Plexus but it's extremely difficult for you to make this a full-time income.

1. Overall Company Business Still Going Well

Despite all the complaints, Plexus seem to do well overall as a company.

They have recently acquired a new $11.5 Million corporate office building and are looking to expanding the network of ambassadors worldwide.

According to the leadership team, Plexus are here to stay and hope to be hitting the $1 billion mark of annual sales within the next few years.

This can be a good news.

But to be honest, that's the only good thing I can find about this company. There are simply too may issues with Plexus, ranging from product quality, customer service, billing, etc...

No, Plexus is not a scam but it's a pretty bad MLM company in the health & wellness market.

I think the reason is quite obvious.

If you want to make money with Plexus, you're actually fighting an uphill battle because there are simply too many complaints about their products and services.

You can find all the proofs on BBB and there's nothing to argue about.

MLM is not scam nor is it a pyramid scheme. It all depends on the company's leadership, business structure and compensation plan.

Yes, you can make lots of money with MLM if you join the right company and adopt the right techniques.

However, I'm not a big fan of MLM because I really don't like recruiting and face-to-face selling.

I'm sure many of you hate that as well.

So, my top recommended business model for you to make money online is Affiliate Marketing!
