What is Chloe and Isabel?

Chloe and Isabel Jewelry is a MLM or multi-level marketing company based in New York and was founded by Chantel Waterbury in 2011.

Their products? Jewelries.

The business started out as a channel of sorts to merge personality and fashion together. The business is based on what’s called as their “Friendship Philosophy” where Chloe and Isabel united through their friendship and took self-expression to the next level.

According to their website, Chloe represents the fashionista side while Isabel represents timeless fashion.

If you’re familiar with other jewelry MLM companies such as Vantel Pearls, then you’ll probably recognize that Chloe and Isabel started out small and grew big in a short period of time.

Chloe and Isabel Product Line

The company markets various jewelry pieces made from high-quality materials that are hypoallergenic, lead-free, and nickel-free.

All products are based on their three principles: beautifully crafted, inspired, and made from exceptional quality.

This is part of their promise to provide high-end jewelries to their distributors at low prices compared to the standard markup in the market.

This allows distributors to earn the most profits.

Their products include:

  • Bracelets
  • Earrings
  • Hair accessories
  • Rings
  • Necklaces
  • And more…

Their products are categorized into various collections, ranging from new arrivals to anniversary collections to birthstones to bridal lines.

As for their pricing, they’re somewhere within an average of $100, which is cheaper than department store jewelries.

You’ll only find a handful of products that are above $100, but other than everything else is affordable and appears to be marketed easily.

Does the Product Work?

I’ve read different reviews, both positive and negative, that mention the quality of Chloe and Isabel’s products.

Just recently, they’ve decided to change the way they manufactured their jewelries. Some distributors have mentioned that the quality has declined and the jewelry pieces now look cheaper.

Check out these reviews from their Glassdoor Profile:

There are no specifics as to how their manufacturing processes changed, but from what I could gather from these reviews, the difference between older and newer products might be night and day.

Other than that, I couldn’t find any feedback about customers getting any health-related issues from wearing these jewelry pieces so that’s a huge plus in some way.

How To Make Money with Chloe and Isabel?

Chloe and Isabel offers two ways to make money via their compensation plan:

  • Individual sales
  • Group sales

How To Get Started with Chloe and Isabel?

Chloe and Isabel offers a business opportunity that starts you out with their Essential Starter Kit that costs $179. This kit contains $700 worth of jewelry pieces and other necessary business supplies to help you get started.

So assuming you sell all of the products, you’re looking at $600 profit from your Starter Kit.

Chloe and Isabel Compensation Plan

A look at their compensation plan made me realize that there’s probably some potential, albeit limited, to their business opportunity.

As mentioned above, here are the business supplies that you’ll get after signing up:

  • Fully customizable online boutique
  • In-person pop-up shops
  • Customer order (with a lifetime guarantee)
  • No-cost Passport Rewards (every time you enroll friends & family)
  • Host programs (in exchange for free jewelry of your choice
  • More exclusive offers
  • Close-knit community

You sign up as a Merchandiser for the business, where you also have to go through an interview before you get a chance to sell their products. If you pass the interview, then you’ll be given the chance to purchase the Starter Kit.

Their compensation plan is quite simplistic, which makes them different from the other MLM companies out there with more than 2 ways to make money.

Personal Sales

You earn a commission from selling their products, which is at about 25 to 40% of your sales. This means that you buy the products at wholesale cost and keep the profits after selling the products at their MSRP.

Group Sales

Most of your income will also come from your group’s commissionable sales. I couldn’t find any direct information from their website about their group sales incentives, so I resorted to using third-party feedback.

Based on your group, you get about 4 to 12% commission from your group’s sales. Then there are other bonuses such as free trips and jewelries.

You will earn 4% to 12% from your group’s commissionable sales.

Chloe and Isabel Ugly Truths Revealed!

#1. Too Many Complaints From Merchandisers!

Their Glassdoor profile has become an official page for employees and merchandisers’ rants, which is not a good thing.

Most of the complaints stem from the lackluster quality of the products after changing the way they were manufactured.

Some merchandisers have opted to drop out of the business entirely because they could no longer see the point of continuing.

#2. Expensive Product Pricing (Than Before)

In line with the way they changed their manufacturing, the pricing for their products also changed. The markup has increased significantly, which makes the wholesale costs also significantly higher as well.

I could definitely see why merchandisers opted to drop out from the program. If they were used to purchasing products at about $30 (assuming) and then retailing it at a 25% margin, it would be difficult to sell the products if the wholesale costs were at $50 and retailing at 25% margin.

It’s bad enough that you’re competing with high-end brands in department stores and Amazon, so marketing their products might be more difficult now.

#3. Low Profits

One former merchandiser opened up about spending more than $1000 in supplies but only profited $100 even though she marketed heavily via social media.

From a business perspective, your 25% margin would actually have 15% of that covering other costs including your advertising, marketing, and even maintenance. It’s no surprise that you only get 10% as profits.

If you want to earn more profits, you’d have to jack up your margins by up to 45%, which wouldn’t make sense at this point because no one wants to buy a jewelry piece that’s doubled in price.

What I Like About Chloe and Isabel?

Honestly, I’m not a fan of these MLM companies mainly because they’re too niched and they’re too tedious to market.

Selling jewelry pieces is kind of difficult enough because of the intense competition from department stores, other brands, and of course, Amazon.

Is Chloe and Isabel a Scam?

Chloe and Isabel is a legitimate MLM company that markets jewelries and other accessories. Unfortunately, their business opportunity leaves a lot to be desired because of several issues.

Mainly, their products have undergone an overhaul in manufacturing affecting both quality and overhead costs. The wholesale costs have gone up, which also affects the retail pricing.

Because of this, it might be difficult to market said products. And that’s why people are slowly losing their drive in marketing their products.

How I Make a Living Online?

I'm not a fan of MLM, not because it's illegal or not profitable, but because of all the restrictions and the expensive costs involved.

Instead, Affiliate Marketing is my top recommended business model for anyone to make money online.

The reason is simple...

  • You don't have to recruit anyone to make money
  • You have the freedom to promote any products you want and not being restricted to only promote the products from one MLM company
  • It's Free to get started

In fact, with affiliate marketing...

I've personally created a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income Stream and become financially independent at just 21 years old without any College degree or working experience!

Through my own hard work, I went from a broke restaurant waiter to living my dream laptop lifestyle in less than a year's time...
