Is MySurvey A Scam? A Survey Site That’s Not Worth Your Time!
Welcome to my MySurvey review!
A 40-year old company with an almost 20-year old paid survey program.
You better believe it folks. There's a survey site that's probably older than some of its members.
I'm talking about MySurvey!
First of all, I must Congratulate you for taking your time to do your own research before buying into any "seemingly good" product.
That's the way to avoid scams and find the legitimate way to make money online!
Let me be completely transparent with you, I'm not associated with MySurvey in any form.
So, rest assured that I'm not here to pitch or sell anything to you.
Instead, I'm here to reveal what makes this industry veteran unique, and whether or not it's worth anyone's time.
MySurvey Review Summary
Product Name: MySurvey
Founder: Acquired and currently operating under Lightspeed Research
Product Type: Paid Survey Intermediary
Price: Free to join
Best For: Anyone who wants to waste their time answering boring surveys for a few bucks at the risk of not getting paid at all.
Summary: MySurvey is a market research company with a paid survey program to gather data for its clients. Despite being a veteran in the survey industry, there are a few reasons why I don't recommend this program to anyone. Let's talk about your account security. Your account may be deactivated for no reason at all, and is a common complaint among their members. The company has not addressed this issue at all, to my knowledge, and thus, your income potential is greatly hindered. To add more to the problem, you may even get screened out of the survey after you complete it, so you may or may not get credited for the survey. Again, this hinders your earning potential and could actually make you waste your time while you don't get paid at all. But if you're willing to risk all of this, then I would say go for it.
What is MySurvey?
MySurvey is a market research company that uses a paid survey program to gather data for their clients.
The company started their operation back in 1940s, but their survey program didn’t start till after they launched their company online.
They were first known as NFO or National Family Opinion Organization, and used to collect surveys via emails and over the phone.
In 2001, they launched MySurvey to expand their study further and to reach out to families across the nation.
In 2010, they were bought by Lightspeed Research, another market research company with their own survey program.
Today, MySurvey is the largest survey intermediary in the world and continues to be one of the leading survey sites in the industry.
MySurvey works just like any other paid survey intermediary.
The clients who are looking for data and other information hire companies like MySurvey to gather data for them.
MySurvey then constructs survey questionnaires based on the demographics specified by the client. These questionnaires are then sent to members of their site for them to answer.
Once they answer the survey, they are compensated for the time.
Note that not everyone is qualified to take a survey because of demographic requirements and profile requirements.
For example, a survey that requires all single mothers who work at home to answer is not available to someone who doesn’t fit the profile.
How Do You Join MySurvey?
MySurvey is free to join, as long as you’re living in North American, Europe, or somewhere within the Oceania regions.
All they need from you is your email address, a mailing address, and your time to complete their profile questionnaire so they’ll know what surveys fit you best.
How Much Money Can You Make With MySurvey?
A survey can earn you anywhere between $0.5 and $1.25.
Similar to other survey sites such as Survey Junkie, they also have a point system that can be converted for cash or gift cards.
For every 100 points, you earn $1.00.
The minimum cash payout is $10 or 1000 points.
How much you can make from their surveys rely on these factors:
- The number of surveys you answer on a daily basis
- The number of surveys available to you
- Consistency of both the first and second factors.
The more surveys you can answer consistently, the more money you’re going to earn.
But that’s another story.

Sweepstakes Entries As Rewards!
Not all survey sites offer a Sweepstakes-like reward system for their members, and that’s where MySurvey shines.
When you answer surveys, sometimes you’ll get “Sweep Entries” and not points.
These “Sweep Entries” can be used to cash in on for a small chance to win something big.
Again, it’s not much but it does help when you’re trying to cash out a decent amount of money in a short period of time.
How Does MySurvey Pay You?
MySurvey pays out through PayPal for cash rewards, and that’s about it.
You can’t opt for a Visa card or a cheque, so that’s a huge disappointment on their end.
If you don’t want to redeem your points for cash, you can always turn it in for Amazon gift cards or other gift card options that are available when you redeem.
It takes 4 to 8 weeks for your payout, depending on which option you chose.
How Does MySurvey Compare With Other Survey Websites?
ClixSense doesn’t really bombard you with annoying spam emails, and only reaches out to you when they want to send you a survey that you qualified for.
PrizeRebel and Vindale Research provide you with enough tasks to keep your earnings up, and they do make it worth your while (sometimes).
Who's MySurvey For?
MySurvey is a survey site intended for people who:
- Have the patience to answer boring surveys
- Have the patience to wait out $10 in cash rewards
- Are not expecting to turn this into a source of full-time income
MySurvey Ugly Truths Revealed!
#1 – They Screen Respondents Out For No Reasons!
The company displays the amount of time it will take to complete the survey, and according to most of the reviews that I’ve read, these are somewhat misleading.
On top of that, respondents are facing issues with regards to completing surveys. Some complained that they can no longer turn in their surveys only after they’ve completed it, and not before.
But then again, this is a common problem amongst different survey intermediaries, so MySurvey doesn’t really stand out in terms of holding out on their members.
#2 – They Deactivate Inactive Accounts!
Another main problem that members face with MySurvey is the sudden deactivation of their accounts.
Sometimes they deactivate accounts due to inactivity, and sometimes they deactivate for no reason at all.
Check out what these reviews have to say about MySurvey:
Now imagine this. You’ve worked so hard on reaching that $10 cash payout for almost 2 weeks, and all of a sudden, you can no longer login to your account!
Can you imagine how much of a buzzkill that is? You’re working your butt off for less than a dollar per hour and your hard-earned money suddenly disappears?
There’s no explanation from MySurvey’s side on why this is happening either. My guess is that they do this so they don’t have to pay their members out.
#3 – Low Income Potential
You have to qualify for surveys. They have to screen you before you can even turn in your questionnaires, and they may even deactivate your account for no reason at all.
Those are three factors as to why there’s very low income potential with MySurvey.
Do you want to know why the income potential is really low?
In 2012, they awarded a total of $12,000,000 to its members. Now, that’s a huge number if it was to EACH MEMBER.
No, no. That’s $12,000,000 divided to all members.
So if you had 100,000 active members during that year, each member earned about $120 per year.
That’s about $10 a month!
Federal Minimum Wage is a lot higher than their monthly earning, and with the problems that this site is facing, I don’t think that this is worth anyone’s time.
What I Like About MySurvey?
I find it difficult to review survey and GPT sites because there’s just little to nothing worth good mentioning about a program for most of the time.
Now, I try to be very objective and honest in all of my reviews because I want to present the readers with options as to whether or not a program is worth spending time on.
In the case of MySurvey, I don’t think that there’s something good worth mentioning simply because of the fact that your account may get deactivated for no reason at all.
Let’s be honest here. Do you really want to spend hours and hours to earn $10 only to find out the next day that your account has been deactivated.
As of this writing, I have not found any official response from MySurvey for this issue.
The fact that a lot of their members are complaining about it is enough for me to justify my assumptions.
Is MySurvey A Scam?
I wouldn’t exactly call MySurvey a scam because they’re a 40+ year old market research company with an 18-year old Paid Survey Intermediary program.
But even though they’re veterans in the industry, I wouldn’t exactly use that as my justification for recommending this program.
In fact, I don’t think this program is meant for anyone at all.
With all of the problems that members are facing, like getting screened out in the middle of a survey or getting their accounts deactivated, I am led to believe that my financial security here is not their priority.
They are not willing to work with you to help you get the low payout of $10, and they are not willing to go the extra mile to provide you with more valuable surveys.
