Intellishop Review Image Summary

Summary:  IntelliShop is a mystery shopping platform run by a market research company that hires you to evaluate their clients' services as a shopper. It's a legitimate platform and the income opportunity is decent enough. However, the income potential is low mostly due to the fact that the assignments are based locally. But if you don't mind the income, it's a good way to make money if you're fond of shopping.

What is IntelliShop?

IntelliShop is a company that hires people like you to be their mystery shoppers to visit their clients’ stores and markets. The company was founded by Ron Welty in 1999 and they’re still accepting new members.

Is IntelliShop a Scam - Landing Page

The goal of being a mystery shopper is to visit, observe, and evaluate their services based on first-hand experience. You’re then going to submit a report about the visit through their templates.

Based on my initial research, they’re a legitimate company and they seem to be tied with some major retailers. They claim that you can make $100 to $150 a month with their program, which isn’t a lot of money if you’re looking for a source of full-time income. However, their business opportunity is viable.

Why Mystery Shopping?

A lot of retailers and stores put their best foot forward whenever they hear that bosses from the corporate offices will do a visit, defeating the purpose of evaluating individual stores based on daily operations.

Is IntelliShop a Scam - Why Mystery Shopping

Mystery shopping is a form of market research because it has companies hire ordinary Joe’s and Jane’s to do the work for them. It also includes having to evaluate their competitors’ stores as well without sending over known executives from the store.

So the process works by having you go into a store, evaluate their services based on their request, and then fill up your report. You then send over the report and then you’ll be paid for your time and effort.

For example, you might be hired to check the store’s warranty and insurance department, or check on people who handled those. You’ll be asked to inquire about their process and provide a report on how well the company did.

This allows companies like IntelliShop to help their clients’ identify their weaknesses and what needs to be improved.

Inside IntelliShop

You’ll need to sign up as a Shopper over at IntelliShop to apply for the position. They have a rigorous screening and hiring process because they have high-end clients with specific needs.

IntelliShop also does background checks on their applicants to ensure that they don’t get people with felony records.

You’re basically put through how they would hire employees, but you’re not exactly an employee for IntelliShop. It also doesn’t state in their agreement that you’re hired as an Employee, but rather as an Independent Contractor.

How Does the Company Work?

If you’re hired, you’ll be given a shopper’s rating, which is used to measure your performance with the company.

When you do tasks and follow them based on their guidelines, you’ll increase your rating. The higher your rating, the more jobs you’ll be qualified to do.

Once you login to your dashboard, you’ll be presented with the available jobs and assignments which you can complete at any given time.

Some of the tasks that you’ll be asked to do are:

  • Taking photos of their display case
  • Order food
  • Buy and test a product

Sometimes, the company will also assign you a job directly so it won’t be on the list and will be made available only to you.

Your reports are then evaluated and will go through quality assurance by their Proofers. These are people who review and edit the mystery shoppers’ reports.

How Does The Company Pay?

Each assignment pays differently, ranging anywhere between $5 and $30, so the claim of earning $150 per month isn’t really that difficult to achieve.

You’ll need a PayPal account to work for their company. They don’t do direct deposits or issue checks as far as the review is concerned.

You’re paid out before the 20th of every month, and anything after that is paid the following month.

There’s no mention anywhere of hidden fees and charges, which is a good thing because you get what you earned.

Once payment has been issued, you’ll need to claim your payment within 5 days. Any payment not claimed within 30 days is returned to the company. If this happens to you, you’ll have to get in touch with the company so they can reissue your payment.

As far as research is concerned, I haven’t found any reports about people not getting paid or having their payments taken back so that’s a huge plus.

Who's IntelliShop For?

IntelliShop is a program intended for those who love to shop and who spend more time in retail stores than other people.

Granted, it’s not a source of full-time income so don’t quit your day-job for this program.

IntelliShop Ugly Truths Revealed!

#1 Local Assignments Only

Your assignments are dependent on your area and profile, so just like paid surveys and GPT programs, you’ll be handling assignments from your local area only. This means that stores that are within driving or walking range are only available for you.

So, if you live in a small town or city, then you’re going to be receiving fewer assignments than someone who lives in a big city.

This is also why some people make the effort to drive to other states to take advantage of the assignments there when presented.

#2 Low Income Potential

The income potential isn’t that high, but it isn’t that low either. At the very least, you’re earning $5 for a task and that’s 100 times more than what paid surveys would pay up for a single task.

However, if you consider the fact that you’re going to shell out money for gas, parking, and so on, you might end up losing more money than earning them.

What I Like About IntelliShop?

#1 Solid Mystery Shopping System

One of the first things that I noticed about IntelliShop is that they have a solid system that you just need to follow. The company provides you with guidelines on what to do and you just need to follow it.

I like how their company barely has any issues at all with their mystery shoppers, and that people are being taken cared of.

Their GlassDoor Profile shows them at a 3-star rating, with positive ratings from Shoppers who worked with them for more than a year.

Their Indeed profile shows them at a 4.8 star rating, with high scores on Work-Life Balance and Work Culture.

#2 Full Flexibility

You can work on these tasks at any given time, so there’s flexibility with their opportunity. It’s also one of their strongest suits as a company and people have been praising them for it.

As long as you can meet the deadlines for the tasks, you’ll be able to work on them on your own time and pace.

Is IntelliShop a Scam?

IntelliShop is a legitimate market research company that hires you as a mystery shopper for their clients.

If you’re looking for a source of full-time income, then you might be disappointed with this program because the income potential is low. It also depends on where you’re located, so the smaller the city, the less assignments you receive.

However, they do have a solid system in place so you’re not going to be worried about not getting paid. They provide full flexibility in terms of task completion, so you’re going to be able to work at your own time and pace as long as you meet the deadlines.
