Summary: Digital Experts Academy (DEA) is an affiliate marketing training portal with quite a lot of useful resources and training. However, their system is designed in such a way that you are forced to keep paying them money and buying their upsells which can cost up to $20,000, which is pretty ridiculous.

Rating: 40/100

What is Digital Experts Academy (DEA)?

digital experts academy homepage screenshot

Digital Experts Academy is a membership site which teaches people how to make money online via affiliate marketing.

They have a bunch of training, resources and support to help people build their online business and brand.

DEA is the parent company of another membership site called The Six Figure Mentors. The founders and the team behind these two platforms are exactly the same and the membership of the two platforms are actually linked and interrelated.

In other words, Stuart and Jay, these two co-founders founded two extremely similar companies to make more money for themselves.

Why do I say that? Keep reading this review and you'll find out...

But before we continue, you may want to check out this introduction by Jay Kubassek the co-founder of Digital Experts Academy and The Six Figure Mentors:

Digital Experts Academy Membership Levels

There are 4 main membership levels within DEA. But before you're given the opportunity to join DEA, you have to become a member or Six Figure Mentors which has another 4 membership levels.

Six Figure Mentors

six figure mentors membership
  1. Affiliate Access (Free)
  2. Student Access ($29.95)
  3. Essential Membership ($297 + $97/month)
  4. Elite Membership ($2,500/year + $97/month)

You can learn more about SFM at my Six Figure Mentors review.

Just know that SFM membership is a must if you want to join DEA. So apart from the DEA membership cost, you still have to pay for SFM's fees like $297 and $97 per month.

Even if you want to apply for DEA membership straight, they'll still direct you to SFM first.

  1. DEA Silver ($2,500): An E-learning program
  2. DEA Gold ($8,000): 12 month Digital Marketing Coaching program + a 3-Day Bootcamp
  3. DEA Platinum ($11,000):  A 3-Day Workshop + a website with social media profiles and branding training
  4. DEA Black ($20,000): Ticket to their annual Mastermind Retreat which include meeting with Stuart and Jay

P.S. This program that has enabled me to generate a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income at just 21 years old is FREE to get started and only cost $49/month fee to go full-time!

Pros & Cons

The Good

  • DEA has quite a lot of useful and legit training and resources for you to learn from
  • Their support and help from the consultants are decent
  • Their training not only focuses on internet/digital marketing, but also teaches you about leadership, personal development and entrepreneurial mindset, etc.
  • If you have that huge amount of money to invest, you can get some really awesome mentorship, guidance and support from their team

The Bad

  • It is more like a MLM or even pyramid scheme because you are taught to promote their membership
  • You are forced to join Six Figure Mentors (SFM) and pay for its membership fee even before you can join DEA, which is ridiculous
  • Basically, you'll hit a roadblock every time at different membership level and you're forced to upgrade to the next membership level and continue paying more money to Stuart & Jay
  • Having upsells and high ticket products don't make the program a scam. However, SFM + DEA have simply too many upsells (membership levels) and the price point for each membership level is really too much
  • In many of their videos and sales page, all they show you is the fancy sports cars and luxury mansions which is very scammy to be honest. (See the image below)

Digital Experts Academy is not really a scam as they have some serious training and valuable information. However, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone simply because they are charging too much without any promises and guarantees.

Like I've said, their system is designed in such a way that you are forced to keep paying them money and buying their uspsells which can cost up to $20,000.

This kind of system is a big NO no matter how useful their training may be.

In fact, there are ways for you to start learning and building your affiliate marketing business for FREE. Why pay $20,000 for that? You're just paying the money for the trip and the hospitality.

Hey Jerry, I read your article and it seems pretty fair. I’m taking into consideration that this was written a year ago, many changes have taken place since then so you may want to do an edit. I’m currently an SFM member and really enjoy their education platform. I think your article does lack some information.

1 – SFM/DEA provides ongoing training through webinars and masterminds, not to mention more focused training in multiple platforms.
2 – SFM/DEA does pay out high commissions on their affiliate programs – for example, at Elite level, you can earn a $1,000 commission for an Elite sale and depending on where you are positioned – up to $8,000 (these are rare).
3 – You state “It is more like a MLM or even pyramid scheme because you are taught to promote their membership”, yet you are promoting membership to Wealthy Affiliate, which I know they teach you to promote…so would that not also be a Con of Wealthy Affiliate?
4 – Lastly – Stuart and Jay make their money the same as everyone else in SFM/DEA, through affiliate commissions, they don’t take a salary (it might take me a while, but I can provide proof if you like).

Once again, I appreciate the honest and fair review. The biggest Con I see in this blog is that SFM/DEA offers high dollar training, which makes them comparable to at least 75% of other marketing education platforms. I am a former member of WA, so I know they have a quality program, it just turned out to not be the right fit for me.

Take care and best of luck to you!

Hi Jerry,

Great review of Digital Experts Academy.

I agree that they are not a scammy company like our good friends at MOBE were!

BUT, as you pointed out, their memberships are quite expensive.

Having said that, there seem to be quite a few success stories starting to come out of Six Figure Mentors and Digital Experts Academy and they seem to be somewhat stable companies that have been around for a long time now. That is something they should be commended for.

Of course, Wealthy Affiliate has been around for a long time too, I’d a lot less expensive, and has a LOT of success stories coming from it.

I have been seeing, and watching your site for some time now and it is really starting to look like a slick operation!!!

Congratulations on a great site! I can tell you will be going all the way to the moon.

I would have no problems with expensive sign up fees if you’re getting the value expected out of what you’re paying.

    Justin Hagen - May 20, 2019

I wouldn’t mind paying that amount of money if I was getting something valuable, you know what I mean?

Hi Jerry,

What a great review you did. I can now conclude that Expert Academy cannot help anyone in this age to start making money online.

Really appreciate your input here.

Hi Jerry, very nice website you have here. I am glad to see someone is honestly helping people move forward in their online business adventures. I agree with you DEA does not sound like a scam but, for a person just getting started, it is definitely not a program that I would recommend either.

I have never been involved with DEA but, I have been involved with a few high ticket companies. At the time I did not understand how MLM worked as I am new to the online world.

The coaching and mentoring was great but, I would never get involved with any high ticket offer unless you are very experienced. I personally went to Wealthy Affiliate and I am so glad because, I have learned a lot since I started.

I would highly recommend any of your readers to start there because, for one it is free to get started and two WA works…

    Hi Lakisah,
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience. I too agree with you that Wealthy Affiliate is one of the best places to begin your affiliate marketing journey!

Sean - January 9, 2018

Hi Jerry,
Great review. As an ex member myself, I can confirm that this is spot on. I’d also say that it is incredibly expensive, with many paid-for add-ons that surface as you progress with the course. The material is pretty good, but like I say, very expensive. The mentoring is not bad either. But for what you pay, the value just wasn’t there for me. I also smell a rat when I see the owners swanning around in nice sports cars and making videos in exotic places – clearly making too much money from exorbitant fees. I’d say Wealthy Affiliate is a much better option.
Thanks fr sharing,

    Jerry Huang - January 10, 2018

    Hey Sean,
You have the same impression on DEA like I did. I totally agree with you. Thanks for sharing your experience 🙂

Stefan - January 9, 2018

Hi Jerry, what a relief you got all this experience and knowledge of companies like that.
I would like to have a Lamborghini too, but by paying tens of thousands for programs? I think I am faster saving money and work with WA.
I am really happy to learn about all these +- programs and don’t have to test them my self.

    Jerry Huang - January 10, 2018

    Hi Stefan,
You definitely can get your Lamborghini if you are fully committed to work with Wealthy Affiliate. Here’s a proof from a fellow WA member who was able to bought a car from his Amazon commissions. Note that Amazon commission is just one of the many sources of income streams you can get online. You can develop multiple streams of passive income by working with Wealthy Affiliate.

Thank you for reading and I wish you all the best!
