Remotasks Review – Get Paid To Work With Lidar?!

This program is a lot more unique than the ones we’re accustomed to reviewing. Would you believe me if I told you that you were getting paid to help develop AI and to collect radar data?

If not, well you better read this review and find out what this program is all about.

This is Remotasks.

First of all, I must Congratulate you for taking your time to do your own research before buying into any "seemingly good" product.

That's the way to avoid scams and find the legitimate way to make money online!

Let me be completely transparent with you, I'm not associated with Remotasks in any form.

So, rest assured that I'm not here to pitch or sell anything to you.

Instead, I'm here to reveal what this company is all about...

Remotasks Review Image Summary

Summary: Remotasks is a GPT or Get Paid To / Crowdsourcing Platform that gets its members different tasks for them to do. They're paid to do these tasks, all requested by their clients. However, one thing that stops us from recommending this as a source of full-time income is that the income potential is low.

What is Remotasks?

Remotasks is a crowdsourcing platform that’s designed, developed, and operated by Scale AI Inc., a company that designs and develops artificial intelligence.

Joining Remotasks will allow you to take part in their income opportunity. You’ll have to do a variety of tasks ranging from transcription to data collection to Lidar.

Scale AI Inc. is currently located in San Francisco, CA, but their jobs for Remotasks are made available to people worldwide.

We’ll talk about their platform in the next section below.

Inside Remotasks

Think of Remotasks as a micro jobs website. It has different tasks for people, which are called Taskers. These tasks are required by Remotasks’s clients, which happen to be small startups and public companies that require their service.

Remotasks Review - How It Works

Remotasks Review - How It Works

This is how the company works:

  • First you sign up with your Facebook account. There’s no need to verify any email address here. You also can’t register with anything else.
  • You have to take exams once the registration is complete. You’ll find these on your Dashboard under Exams. Taking these exams will make you eligible to take on various tasks in different categories. The more exams you pass, the more tasks are made available to you on the Dashboard.
  • Once you select a task, you now have to complete it. Follow the instructions and submit it before the deadline. Note that you just can’t quit halfway through because accuracy is important in this platform. You’ll get banned if you make mistakes or if you bail out on tasks.
  • You get compensated for each task completed. Your PayPal is required in order for you to receive payments. All payments are made weekly and automatically, so there’s no need to submit invoices or wait for a minimum threshold.

How to Make Money on Remotasks?

Remotasks is kind of similar to other jobs-based sites such as QuickTate and Paid Social Media Jobs, but Remotasks is far more unique than them because you don’t see the kind of tasks that Remotasks is offering anywhere else.

Remotasks Review - Different Tasks

Remotasks Review - Different Tasks

Based on the exams you took, these are the tasks that you’ll be doing every now and then:

  • Categorization – This job lets you categorize different websites depending on their service, or categorizing different products, content, and so on.
  • Image Annotation – This one includes drawing a line around an object in an image. Most of the time, you’ll be asked to draw lines around vehicles on the road.
  • Image and Audio Transcription – This task involves typing out what you see in the image or what you hear from an audio.
  • Data Collection – You go online and collect different information required by the client.

Other Conditions To Follow

  • Taskers have to be fluent in English.
  • You have to complete the tasks based on their deadlines.
  • Your accuracy and ability to submit tasks on time will affect your standing here. The lower your accuracy is, or if you keep on submitting tasks past their deadlines, you will be banned.
  • You don’t get second chances for doing the tasks, so do them properly the first time.
  • Once you click the Submit button, you can’t go back and edit your tasks.
  • You’ll need a PC or Laptop with at least 4GB of RAM to carry out the tasks.
  • You may not use smartphones to login to Remotasks. Majority of the tasks such as 2D and 3D annotation should be done in PC.
  • PayPal charges a 2% fee for payouts
  • You can only sign up with your Facebook account.

How Much One Can Earn On Remotasks?

There are a lot of factors here that could affect your income potential, but the two biggest ones would be:

  • The kinds of tasks you’re doing
  • The time you devote to doing these tasks weekly

Of course, the more tasks you do, the more money you make. On average, people earn anywhere between $30 and $50 for the average tasks (data collection, image tagging, etc.).

But there are higher paying tasks out there such as Segmentation, writing reviews, Cuboid Tasks, and Lidar. The caveat here is that you have to take exams to be eligible to work on these tasks.

How to Withdraw Money from Remotasks?

Payments are made weekly on Friday, and they’re done automatically. There’s no minimum payout threshold required, so whatever you earn for that week is what you get on Friday morning. As of this writing, PayPal is the only mode of payment.

There aren’t issues with payment either, if I were to base it on customer feedback.

Who's Remotasks For?

Remotasks isn’t meant for everyone. It’s meant for people who are at least familiar with some of the tasks listed above, or are competent enough to carry out the basic tasks.

Remotasks Ugly Truths Revealed!

#1 Very Hard To Earn With Remotask

At $30 to $50 a month, it’s a little bit more gracious than most GPT sites we’ve encountered. But it’s quite far from what we want in terms of recommending it as a source of income.

Your income potential here is affected by what tasks you’re doing and how many of them you’re doing. At most it’s a few dollars every day, so don’t your day job for it.

#2 Questionable Testimonials

One thing that really caught our attention was the use of questionable testimonials, as seen here.

Remotasks Review - Questionable Testimonial

He claims that he’s been working on Remotasks since 2016, but a quick WhoIs search led me to this:

Remotasks Review - WhoIs Registration

Remotasks Review - WhoIs Registration

So how could’ve he have worked on Remotasks in 2016 when they were launched in 2017?

Now, this doesn’t mean that the site itself is fake or anything. It could’ve been a ploy to get people hyped up for earning here. Harmless marketing, I’m sure, but it’s disappointing.

What I Like About Remotasks?

#1 Varied Tasks

There’s a possibility here that you could make hundreds of dollars here. Emphasis on POSSIBILITY. Granted, you’re not to earn a six-figure income here, but if you do a lot of tasks and if you qualify for the higher paying ones, you could make a few hundred dollars.

Is Remotasks a Scam?

Remotasks is far from being a scam, and I would think that it’s one of the most decent GPT sites out there. But it’s not something we’d recommend if you’re looking for a source of full-time income.

Verdict Not Recommended Template

The income potential is really low. You’d have to do a lot of tasks per week to make it worth your while. You also need to qualify for the high-paying tasks.

Now I am not saying that there’s no chance of making a lot of money here. It just might take a lot more work and a lot more time.

If you’re still interested to join, it’s safe to sign up for. We haven’t seen any complaints about their platform and their payment system, so those are two positives that are worth mentioning.
