Octopus Group is a paid survey panel or intermediary that’s available to the residents of Australia and New Zealand. The company was established back in 2013 and has become one of the biggest survey sites in Australia. 

The business is ISO-accredited and owned by Australians. A look at their Alexa rankings show that they get 300,000 visits per month on average, and most of the traffic comes from Australia.

How To Make Money with Octopus Group?

There are only two ways to make money from Octopus Group:

Surveys

This is the main way to make money from Octopus Group. You get a decent payout for these surveys. For example, a 30-minute survey can net you $8, which is a lot higher than the other survey sites that we reviewed. 

In fact, most of them pay in pennies for their surveys, but with Octopus Group, you get about a few bucks at the minimum every now and then. 

If you don’t qualify for the survey, or if you get disqualified halfway through one, you’ll get compensated for it. You get $0.20 for the time you put in. 

Referral Program

There’s a referral program for Octopus Group, and it has its ups and downs. 

You get about $1 for every person you refer to Octopus Group. This is an instant reward given to you, so you don’t have to wait for them to do something. 

The downside here is that you can only earn up to $20 on referrals, so there’s a ceiling of sorts. But honestly, their system is a lot better because you only need to have them sign up through your referral link and that’s done. 

How Much to Earn?

As mentioned earlier, Octopus Group pays good money for the surveys you complete. You earn anywhere between $1 and $10. These surveys last anywhere between 20 and 30 minutes, which is fairly average in the industry. You also get compensated for the surveys you get disqualified for. 

What Do People Think About Octopus Group?

Octopus Group garnered an average review from users on TrustPilot. As of this writing, they have 9 reviews and the common complaint is that the surveys take too long. I honestly don’t understand why they’re complaining about the time it takes to complete these surveys. They’re not far from the industry average. 

How Do You Cash Out?

The option to cash out is only through direct deposit. You can also select gift cards as an option for the withdrawal. 

They don’t support PayPal and we don’t have any information as to whether or not they also provide support for non-Australian bank accounts. 

The payment threshold is $20, which is relatively easy to achieve given the amount of money you’re paid for these surveys.

If you’re from Australia or New Zealand, this may be a good way to make some money through Octopus Group’s surveys. 

#1 Limited to Australian and New Zealand Residents

This isn’t a big deal, but it does affect anyone’s income opportunity for those who’re not from the aforementioned countries. 

You can make use of VPN or an Australian phone number to circumvent this, but we don’t know how they’ll pay you in the event they don’t support non-Australian bank accounts. 

#2 High Withdrawal Threhsold

We’ve reviewed some survey sites with higher withdrawal thresholds but Octopus Group isn’t that far off. The withdrawal threshold isn’t a big deal given that you earn at least $1 for a survey. So that’s about a few hours of work to get to that $20, assuming you have surveys popping up after you complete one.

We love the fact that there are some high-paying surveys from Octopus Group, and you’ll be lucky enough to get them here and there. 

You could technically earn $8 for about a 30-minute survey from Octopus Group, whereas other surveys would charge you less than a dollar for the same survey. 

#2 They Have a Mobile App

Octopus Group has a mobile app which allows you to take surveys on the go, so you don’t miss out on the opportunities coming in. 

The app is easy to use and we haven’t seen any complaints about it, so we assume that the app works as intended.

Octopus Group is a legitimate program that might be a good way to make a few bucks here and there if you’re from Australia or New Zealand. They have some high-paying surveys that are available to all, provided you qualify for them and as long as they’re still looking for participants. 

The only downside here is that they’re only restricted to residents from Australia and New Zealand. We take it that these are surveys coming in from local companies that may not be present in other countries. 

We don’t know much about their qualifications for some of these surveys outside of residency, but we assume that it’s your typical demographic profile for a lot of these surveys.
