What is DaDaABC?

If you’re reading this review, then you’ve probably stumbled across the name DaDaABC somewhere or someone you know might have told you about it.

But if you don’t have any idea what DaDaABC is all about, then let me tell you that it’s a China-based online ESL (English as Second Language) tutoring platform for children between the ages of 4 and 16.

DadaABC Landing Page

Found in 2013, DaDaABC is located in Shanghai, China and provides you with a work-at-home opportunity through a one-on-one teaching experience within an online classroom.

This classroom will include video, chat, and a virtual whiteboard with pre-planned lessons, games, tools, and animations to help you carry out your lessons.

The site works the same way as programs such as VIPKids and QKids, with nearly the same salary structure and schedule.

As of this writing, DaDaABC rebranded itself as DaDa by dropping the ABC, for good reasons I hope.

And you’ll find that on their About Us Page, as seen here.

But for the sake of this review and consistency, I will be referring to them via their old name which is DaDaABC.

DadaABC About Us

In the next section, I’ll go over the basics of the program and how you can make money out of their opportunity.

Inside DaDaABC

Okay, DaDaABC or DaDa requires you to be outgoing and good with children.

They won’t require previous teaching experience, but it’s a big help to getting hired.

DaDaABC is an online ESL teaching platform where you are hired as a teacher to teach English to children.

Now, you’re provided a virtual classroom with all of the materials and lesson plans to make your class flow as smoothly as possible.

There will also be training provided on how to be a teacher.

What Are The Requirements?

First, if you’re a native English speaker, or if English is your primary language, then you already have an advantage.

You also need a post-secondary education for which an Associate’s Degree (or your country’s equivalent) is the bare minimum.

You’ll also need the following:

  1. Headset with a mic
  2. Webcam
  3. High-speed internet connection

How To Apply?

The application process comprises of 6 steps:

  1. Complete an online application found on their site

DadaABC Salary and Payment Details

DaDaABC pays out between $15 and $25 per hour, but there will be discrepancies due to the fact that the main payout currency is in Renmindi or RMB (official currency of China and measured in Yuans).

Depending on the exchange rate, your salary might fluctuate up and down.

Salaries are also computed hourly and rates are based on your training results and mock session performance.

The better you do in training, the higher the rates will be offered to you.

Another reason why a lot of people choose DaDaABC over any other platform is that you’re paid for your standby time.

Another thing that’s worth nothing is that you’re stuck with the rate you negotiated with prior to you signing the contract. You can only get a raise after 12 months.

Payment is done monthly on the 15th and can be paid through your bank account, AliPay, WeChat, or PayPal.

You’re also hired as a contractor and not as an employee, so you’ll have to deal with your own taxes and other benefits.

Are There Bonuses?

You’ll be glad to know that you’re entitled to bonuses if you’re a DaDaABC teacher.

Bonuses are given out based on class assessments, having regular students, and reaching milestones.

Bonuses vary from one person to the next, so there’s no fixed rate or amount involved.

If you’re a DaDaABC teacher reading this review, do let me know in the comment section below.

Referral Program

You can also make money through their referral program.

If someone signs up via your referral link and gets hired, they have to teach for 30 days before you can get the commission.

You can earn between $100 and $130 per referral.

What’s The Work Schedule?

DaDaABC mentions that you can choose your own hours, but what they don’t mention is that you have to schedule your hours at least 6 months in advance.

If you need to change schedules, they require a 30-day notice.

Your scheduled hours are set in Shanghai time and depending on where you live, it means earlier than normal mornings or later nights.

The available work hours are:

Monday to Friday

6 pm – 9:10 pm (Shanghai Time)

Saturday and Sunday

10:00 am – 12:06 pm (Shanghai Time)

2:00 pm – 4.06 pm (Shanghai Time)

6:00 pm – 9:10 pm (Shanghai Time)

Who's DaDaABC For?

Teaching is a great profession, no matter how you look at it.

It requires passion and being able to relate to your students at any level.

If you’re an outgoing person who has the passion for teaching and meeting new people, then you might be a great fit for DaDaABC.

What I Like About DaDaABC?

#1 – Great Pay!

You’re getting paid anywhere between $15 and $25 per hour for teaching kids online. This is higher than the US Federal Minimum Wage, so you could basically make hundreds of dollars a week if you have your schedules programmed right.

Which brings me to my next point.

#2 – Reliable Hours And Managed Scheduling!

The best thing about DaDaABC is that it’s not an open marketplace and that you’re not competing for work.

The hours are reliable enough and your schedule is managed depending on how available you want it to be.

This ties in with how much you can potentially make in a week.

So, with some math involved, allow me to paint a picture.

Even if you’re paid $15 an hour and you teach for 3 hours a day, you’re still earning $45 a day or $225 a week or around $900 a month.

That’s a decent amount for a part-time work.

At full-time, you’re earning $600 a week or $2,400 a month.

That puts you at about $28,800 a year for $15 an hour.

At $25 per hour, you get $4,000 a month of $48,000 a year.

#3 – All Lesson Plans Are Developed For You!

Part of the burden of being a teacher is removed by DaDaABC by providing you with lesson plans, so you don’t have to.

By the time you’re done with your training, you’re ready to hit the ground running.

All you have to do is secure your own props, depending on your teaching preference.

DaDaABC Ugly Truths Revealed!

#1 – It’s Not Meant For Everyone!

Teaching is a very serious job and actually needs certain requirements before you can apply for DaDaABC.

Even if you do have the credentials, you still need to have patience and an outgoing personality to work with children.

#2 – The Scheduling May Not Work For You!

Because the scheduling is based in Shanghai time, people coming from Western countries may have to work earlier mornings or later in the nights.

Is DaDaABC a Scam?

Far from being a scam, DaDaABC is a legitimate way to make money online by providing you with a job opportunity as an English tutor.

The pay’s great and the hours are reliable and flexible, so you can choose to work whenever you want and still make a decent amount of money.

But this may not be for everyone since teaching requires a different level of passion and personality because you’re teaching kids.
