What is Online Verdict?

Online Verdict is a freelance company that hires you to participate in a mock jury for actual court cases. This means that you’ll get to experience what it’s like to be part of an actual jury working on actual cases.

This is normally done by law firms who want to get a feel of a jury on cases they work without having to go to trial, kind of like market research for companies.

Online Verdict is owned by Adrienne LeFevre, who’s also the owner of LeFevre Trial Consulting. Her consulting company has been around since 2002 and provides mock trials and focus groups services. They also provide witness protection, jury selection, and post-trial interviews as part of their legal services.

LTC currently has an A+ rating on Better Business Bureau and LeFevre herself has a good reputation in the legal industry.

Inside Online Verdict

It’s free to create an account with Online Verdict. Just fill in your profile information and demographic information, similar to how market research sites operate with their survey panels and GPT panels.

The information they need are your name, mailing address, date of birth, ethnicity, employment status, and marital status.

Once you complete your profile, you’ll now be qualified to participate in the mock jury for legal cases within your county or federal district.

Wait for Cases and Assignments

Online Verdict will notify you when you qualify for cases in their database. You’ll receive the invitation to review the case and decide if you want to accept it or not.

The cases are on a first-come, first-served basis so you’ll have to decide right then and there. Each case takes between 20 and 50 jurors per, so slots will quickly fill up. These cases will come from LeFevre’s Trial Consulting clients who need their services, so the number of cases will probably vary per state or county.

We don’t know the particular details on the cases you’ll be working on, nor do we know what kinds of cases are going to be available for participants.

Accept a Case

If you do accept a case or assignment, you’ll need to agree to their confidentiality policy. Because you’re working on legal cases, confidentiality is important. This policy ensures that you don’t leak around the materials that come with the case.

We don’t have to remind you what happens when you violate the confidentiality agreement because the policy was drafted by lawyers. So if you do decide to leak it to the public, you might go to jail.

Each case also comes with a questionnaire, so you should also answer them honestly. As a juror, there are no right or wrong answers. They just want your opinion on the case.

Online Verdict Pay

Online Verdict pays out once a month. After you complete a case and submit it back to them, you’ll receive a check by mail, which takes between 1 and 2 weeks.

Their site pays out between $20 to $60 for up to an hour’s worth of work, which isn’t that bad. But the pay rate will vary on the difficulty of the case.

Online Verdict Requirements

Online Verdict only needs the following requirements before you can sign up:

  1. Be a US citizen
  2. At least 18 years of age

They need your real US address because they’re sending you a check via mail.

As far as we’re concerned, there are no background checks being done or carried out by Online Verdict.

Who's Online Verdict For?

Online Verdict is meant for people who want to know how jury duty feels while getting paid for it.

Online Verdict Ugly Truths Revealed!

#1 Low Income Potential

You may get paid $60 for an hour’s worth of work, and that’s already a lot of money, but the key here is consistency.

You’re looking at spending 30 to 60 minutes to work on a single case, and you’d be lucky enough to receive more than one case per day.

#2 Time-Consuming

Again, once you receive the case, you have to work on it immediately in order to get paid. Unlike surveys and GPT tasks, these are actual legal cases that need feedback from a mock jury.

What I Like About Online Verdict?

#1 You Carry Out Jury Duty

Even if it’s a mock jury, you now know how it feels to be part of a jury. Jury duty in the USA is time-consuming but it’s part of your civic duty. Online Verdict will help you overcome your fears and doubts of becoming part of a jury.

#2 Educational For People Planning To Get Into Law

Online Verdict will expose you to how the legal system in the US works. If you’re a law student or planning to get into the legal industry, Online Verdict will show you the ropes. We’re not telling you that this is a substitute for legal education, but you’ll be exposed to what you will be working on and what you’ll be learning about in law school.

Is Online Verdict a Scam?

Online Verdict is a unique income opportunity because it hires you as a mock juror. The company that powers Online Verdict is a legal consulting company that works with jury feedback and other legal services that are similar to market research companies.

The income potential is low because there’s no guarantee here you get one case per day or one case per hour, but you do get paid a lot for each case you work on.

Is it worth looking into? We might think so if you plan on getting into the legal industry as a lawyer or paralegal. This should give you a bird’s eye view on the entire industry and may give you insight on how things work.
