What is Digital Genius Lab?

First thing first, don't confuse Digital Genius Lab with Digital Genius, which is an Artificial Intelligence Customer Service Company.

digital genius

Digital Genius is NOT Digital Genius Lab!

Digital Genius Lab claims themselves to be an Affiliate Marketing education platform with all the training, tools and support needed for you to make money online.

Upon my investigation, that's far from the truth...

They're pretty similar to programs like MOBE and Digital Altitude, which both have already been shut down by FTC and officially labelled as scams.

Why do I say so?

Let me reveal to you how DGL really works...

How Digital Genius Lab Really Works? (Don't trust people who tell you otherwise...)

Basically, Digital Genius Lab is just a well-designed sales funnel which you can leverage on to promote 2 main products:

  1. Resell the exact same DGL membership which costs $99/month or $997/year and you can earn 30% commission from each sale
  2. Promote "Water Ionization & Filtering System" by Enagic, a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) company

I know you might be quite confused why a so-called affiliate marketing program is promoting water filters, a totally unrelated subject.

I'll get to that in a second. Let's take a look at their DGL Membership first...

"Recruiting" People into Digital Genius Lab...

Remember that they claim to have a Done-for-You system?

Yes, it's true.

In their DGL membership, they'll teach you how to drive traffic to DGL's sales funnel by using Facebook Ads, which is the only thing you need to do.

Afterwards, their sales funnel have coaches who will help you:

  • Follow-up with your referrals
  • Help them get started
  • Persuading them to buy into DGL's membership & upsells

That's exactly the same as what MOBE & Digital Altitude used to be doing and they call this a "Done-for-You system" because all you need to do is to drive traffic.

They claimed themselves to be the one-stop training platform to help people make money online.

But what they're actually doing is simply teaching their members how to drive more traffic and "recruit" more people into the system.

That's also why FTC has taken action against them and they ended up being shut down officially.

The Weird Water Filters...

Now comes to the weird water filters part.

And this is the exact thing they're hiding from you since the beginning.

Upon my investigation, the founders used to be a part of another program called Global Affiliate Zone.

But probably due to some issues, they branched out and created their own program, Digital Genius Lab, which is exactly the same as Global Affiliate Zone.

Here's the truth...

Global Affiliate Zone is also a program that claims to help you make money online via affiliate marketing.

Once again, they're a sales funnel recruiting people into this MLM company called Enagic which is selling water filters and water ionization system. (Their products cost anywhere between $400 to $9,600!)

Interesting huh?

Digital Genius Lab is the exact same thing as Global Affiliate Zone and now they're competing with each other promoting the exact same product.

Both of them claim themselves to be the best affiliate marketing training platform, yet both of them are secretly promoting MLM products at the backend.

How unethical is that?

Let's take a look what's really offered inside DGL...

Inside Digital Genius Lab

DGL's training has 2 main components:

  1. 5 Basic Training Modules - Teach you how to use Facebook Ads to drive traffic
  2. Fast Track Triple Pack ($297) - A more advanced training which is also the first upsell within the program at the same time

So, let's take a look at the contents provided in the training...

(1) 5 Basic Training Modules

Module 1: Facebook Fan Page

This module is mainly teaching you the basics of setting up a Facebook Fan page, how to manage and how to grow it.

A very simple and straightforward module which is helpful for complete beginners.

Module 2: Setting Up DGL Sales Funnel

Module 2 will help you setup your so-called "Done-for-You System" in DGL back office.

This includes:

  • Getting a domain name for your website
  • Creating a sales funnel
  • Setting up automated Email campaigns, etc.

Module 3: Facebook Ads

After having a Facebook page and all the sales funnel in place, the next step is to learn how to drive traffic to your sales funnel using Facebook Ads.

With DGL's training, they'll teach you how to set up your:

  • Dusiness manager with Facebook
  • Ad account
  • Custom Audience Targeting
  • Facebook Pixels & Re-targeting

Module 4: Marketing & Advertising

In this module, you'll learn about Ad columns, how to interpret Ad data, Facebook Ad guidelines and most importantly, the top 6 Facebook Ad types.

Module 5: Analyze Campaign Performance

This final module is to teach you how to scale up your campaign by analyzing and identifying the "winning formula" for you.

As you can see, Digital Genius Lab is all about Facebook Ads.

Not only that, most of the information like how to setup Facebook page & Facebook campaign can actually be found online for Free.

This is another reason why I don't recommend DGL because its value doesn't worth the $99/month fee.

As compared to my top recommended program, it only costs $49/month and it comes with a lot more training, tools and resources than DGL.

More importantly, you can get started with it for Free!

(2) Fast Track Triple Pack ($297 Upsell)

1. 30-Day Fast Track

This is a 4-week program which you'll be assigned with 2 coaches to guide you step-by-step in setting up and optimizing your first Facebook campaign.

After you've completed this part, DGL will give you a "Graduation" T-shirt, and then you can embark on the 90-Day Accelerator...

2. 90-Day Accelerator

90-Day Accelerator is a 13-week program which offers you 1 video per day for 90 days.

And these videos will walk you towards making your first sales.

Once you achieve your first sale, you win a set of sweatpants that matches the t-shirt from the 30 Day Fast Track.

Other additional training included in this program are personal development and creating video Ads.

3. DGL Mastermind League

In this module, you'll get into teams of 5-8 and compete with each other in terms of sales within 90 days.

The good thing about such mastermind groups is that they will help you to become accountable and you can get more support from peers.

Winning groups will get a DGL Mastermind League Hoodie Sweatshirt, which matches the sweatpants and t-shirt, to complete the outfit.

Digital Genius Lab Ugly Truths Revealed!

1. Another Pyramid Scheme in Disguise!

I know this is very controversial. If I say Digital Genius Lab is a pyramid scheme, many people will bash me for sure.

To be honest, DGL is not entirely a pyramid scheme. But...

It has signs of being a pyramid scheme. That's why I said it's pyramid scheme in disguise.

If the only way for people to make money with a program is by recruiting more people into the system without offering any real product or services, that program can be considered a pyramid scheme, which is illegal.

However, this can be really controversial when it comes to digital products.

Just take MOBE & Digital Altitude as examples, yes they have their own product which is their internet marketing training.

The problem is that these training are all geared towards helping their members to promote themselves and recruit people.

So, can they be labelled as pyramid scheme? It's pretty subjective.

Nevertheless, FTC has given us the answer from their action against these two companies.

It's pretty clear now this kind of program is very dangerous and FTC is aware of them.

My question to you is...

Do you really want to get yourself involved in such programs that the only way for you to make money is by reselling the same system? Which potentially can get yourself into trouble like what has happened to MOBE & Digital Altitude?

I understand that some people who want to protect DGL will say it's not necessary for you to resell their membership.

Yea, I agree that you can use the Facebook Ads skill to promote whatever product you want.

But by just having the skill of Facebook Ads, I'm quite sure you can't make any money online. Because you lack the skills in creating a sales funnel to convert your traffic into buyers.

Digital Genius Lab doesn't teach you that of course because they say it's all Done-for-You.

2. Extremely Mysterious & Shady

This is regarding the part where they hide about their backend upsell.

You won't know anything about the MLM upsell from any part of their sales page, webinar or their website.

There are only 2 ways for you to know about the shady promotion:

  1. Purchase their membership yourself and get into their sales funnel
  2. Read honest reviews like the one you're reading right now

Other than that, they won't reveal to you until you reach the stage where they start to persuade you to join Enagic.

3. Affiliate Marketing or MLM?

Affiliate Marketing & MLM are two totally different business model.

However, the founders of DGL are combining these 2 together.

Do you want to know why?

Because they want to make more money for themselves. They want to tap into the benefits of both affiliate marketing & MLM.

But to a complete newbie, everything will just get messed up and confused.

In my opinion, both Affiliate Marketing & MLM are good ways to create passive income streams for anyone who wants to do it.

That's why I highly recommend people to start a business in either one of the business model. But you really can't mix these two together in the same program!

4. Way too Expensive!

In essence, Digital Genius Lab is just course on Facebook Ads. The rest of the features are just hype or part of their sales funnel.

Yet, you're paying $99/month for a Facebook Ads course?

Come on...

I can guarantee you that the value in the program is really not worth your investment.

By the way, I haven't even consider the cost of running Facebook Ads for DGL, which can easily costs up to a few hundred dollars per month.

P.S. This program that has enabled me to generate a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income at just 21 years old is FREE to get started and only cost $49/month fee to go full-time!

5. Standard Upsell Coaches

Just like any other program with lots of high ticket upsells, you'll be assigned with a coach once you enter their member's area.

These coaches will help you get started on the right track. But do you really know the hidden intention of these coaches?

They want to convince you to buy into their upsells so that these coaches can earn commission as well!

6. Unsustainable Business Model

Let me ask you a very serious question...

If you're a member of DGL now, what would you do if it collapses just like what happened to MOBE & Digital Altitude?

My guessing is that you don't know what to do next.

Because if you're a complete newbie in internet marketing, you can't really survive and run a sustainable business by just knowing the basics of Facebook Ads.

Do you know how to build websites? Do you know how to set up your own sales funnel? Do you know where to find the best product to promote? Do you know how to close a sale or convert a prospect into customer?

Nope, not at all!

Digital Genius Lab doesn't teach you anything regarding those skills because they said it's all DFY in their system.

Let me show you a real case study where a person used to be a member of MOBE but suffered a lot due to the fall of MOBE...

wealthy affiliate member message

Private Message from real WA member asking me for help

This girl wasted a lot of time and money due to MOBE. Now, she is following the training at my top recommended program here and work her way out!

The Good Things About Digital Genius Lab?

Okay, enough of the UGLY side of DGL. I'm a balanced reviewer so let's see what are the good things about Digital Genius Lab...

1. Decent Facebook Ads Training

DGL has a pretty good step-by-step training on Facebook Ads which is a good thing.

They're not bullsh*ting anything about FB Ads to you. Their training on this is really helpful.

However, the problem is still the same. It's not worth the $99/month investment.

2. They Give Back

Another good thing about DGL is that they are actively participating in a movement called NeverThirst.

It's an organization trying to easy access to clean drinking water worldwide.

Digital Genius Lab donates 1% of their profit every year to this NeverThirst to help people around the world who need clean drinking water.

To be honest, I was quite curious why they chose to participate in this particular charity.

But I soon realize that it's because they're promoting Enagic, the MLM company selling water filters and ionization system.

And then, everything makes sense!

Is Digital Genius Lab a Scam?

This depends on how you define scam.

In my opinion, Digital Genius Lab cannot be considered as a scam until FTC officially announces it just like MOBE & Digital Altitude.

However, since the business model of DGL is very similar to MOBE & DA, you should really stay away from this program.

And also, you must be aware that DGL is not being 100% transparent and honest about what you'll be getting inside the program.

This is another reason for you to stay away from this program.

How I Make a Living Online...

Affiliate Marketing is my top recommended business model for anyone to make money online.

The reason is simple...

  • You don't have to recruit anyone to make money like what people usually do in MLM
  • You're building your own passive income stream for your financial freedom
  • It's Free to get started

In fact, with affiliate marketing...

I've personally created a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income Stream and become financially independent at just 21 years old without any College degree or working experience!

Through my own hard work, I went from a broke restaurant waiter to living my dream laptop lifestyle in less than a year's time...

I invested over $12,000 dollars, marketed for months, and received not a dime in return. They are falsely advertising a luxurious lifestyle that ‘anyone’ can have. That’s a lie – only those at the top are making any money. I feel totally betrayed, cheated, and taken advantage of. And I never play the victim card (except right now lol). I hope the FTC shuts them down.

Heather Bishop - August 13, 2019

So, Brenda did come through DGL and never actually committed to Enagic. I’m probably the best person to write an actual review on DGL. I do realize that this article is actually to promote your business- and actually I’m okay with that. My main goal is to simply put the info out there for people that are searching around for info. A lot of prospects are still coming through their little DGL Real Talk Group- when a person opts into a link in a paid ad they are pushed into this group where the main objective is to close them on the DGL platform. I was originally in GAZ under the great Sean & Melissa Malone- and they just thought they could do it better. So DGL was created. I was one of the leaders/mentors and sales closers for DGL. Here’s the truth- the DGL education is decent, but you can learn the material in about 2 mths, but you need to keep paying that 99$ to run traffic to the site. You are promoting a 90% done for you automated digital marketing system that is completely broke. Not only that- they hide the whole Enagic product thing on the backend. It makes no sense. Enagic has good products but they should be ashamed of themselves for continuing to be affiliated with DGL or allowing DGL to sell their products in such a scammy manner. Anyone that is considering moving forward with them needs to talk to me first- you will loose your ass. Only about 3% really ever see any money returned in profits. I was successful, however when you bring in 50 families and they are all looking at you like when am I going to make something- it’s a little hard to sleep at night. Sean Malone is best compared to a used car salesmen on crack… dude can pitch a sale like a pro and close you, but then that’s where it ends. He got his commissions- expect nothing more from him. Very sad. I know almost everyone of the people that left a review here on your site, and all I can say is that I’m so sorry that you ever got involved. Did you know that Enagic has their own marketing platform? Yep- EWS. You don’t need DGL or GAZ (now called Affiliate Institute) to sell their products. But from the very beginning we were warned never to mention Enagic. And if we are going to blow the lid off this- I minus well tell all. I was a part of a secret group within DGL- Rabbit Hole. A lot of the members were given sales to rank them- so it appeared people were having success. Or they were paid in buyers to monitor Malone’s page- follow-up on their ManyChat… The best- Chris Baden- the co-owner of DGL has only had one actually sale of his own. Same for JayLee Mathis. Insane.

Cheryl Redden - May 24, 2019

When I joined I was assured that consistent learning and application of that new knowledge would result in success.
“Everyone else was hugely successful, quitting their jobs in as little as 90 days”
I was emotionally and financially invested for 1.5 years and did not earn anything back.
I feel like a fool.

Aurora - March 15, 2019

Everything checks out. I didn’t know until I paid. Didn’t know products offered. To make money I would have to sell filters or get others to join the platform. Why would I sell the platform when there’s nothing to buy? Just a big fancy mlm scheme. I’d be ashamed to tell my family “oh hey join this. It’ll just cost 99. Oh wait that’s 99 a month” “what do you do? ” “sell this membership I thought it was gonna be 99 total. Didn’t know a month just to have to invest again.

Brenda ML Kovacs - September 10, 2018

The following paragraph is in your review. If this was the case, why is the page still open and the membership live webinar still taking place?
“That’s also why FTC has taken action against them and they ended up being shut down officially.”

    Jerry Huang - September 10, 2018

LOL, do you even read my review properly? FTC has shut down MOBE & Digital Altitude, not Digital Genius Lab. HAHAHA. I’m just explaining the concept by using the case study of MOBE and Digital Altitude.

Brenda - September 5, 2018

How can I think YOUR review is worth a grain of salt when your only objective it to push YOUR product? Were you a member of DGL? And if so, how long? Who was your coach?

    Jerry Huang - September 7, 2018

So, you’re a member of DGL. Could you share with us your experience and how much money are you making? Thanks 🙂 Look forward to your sharing!

      Brenda ML Kovacs - September 10, 2018

No I’m not. That’s why I’m looking for reviews. But when I see your review is bashing one product so that you could sell yours, I tend to wonder if yours opinion is valid since you’re really just wanting us to think poorly of one so that will buy yours. If in the end you weren’t trying to sell me something also, I might think this review was worth something.

        Jerry Huang - September 10, 2018

Well, no one is forcing you to join Wealthy Affiliate. Whether you want to trust my review is not my business and I don’t care. But the fact is that I’m earning 4 figures passive income per month consistently with the help of Wealthy Affiliate but you’re not. As for Digital Genius Lab, I’ve done my own research. If you don’t believe what I said in my review, you can go and spend your own money and test it out if I’m right, instead of being so skeptical here.
