Do People Make Money Blogging? YES! $6.2K/mo at 21 Years Old

Have you been thinking about setting up your own blog but are hesitant to do so because you're wondering...

Do people really make money blogging?

Is it really possible to make blogging as a full-time income?

How much money can you really make as a blogger?

I understand.

A lot of people have been asking these questions, even some of those who already have a blog because they don't know how to monetize it.

Well, give yourself a pat on your back for doing your own research here and found my blog.

Because I'll be sharing with you my personal experience as a 21 year old blogger who makes 4-Figure a month blogging full-time!

I'm sure this will be a great help to you regardless if you have a blog or not.

Below is a Quick Summary of what I'll be covering in this post...

My June 2018 Income report!

Let me introduce myself first...

My name is Jerry. I'm a College dropout & a full-time blogger!

I dropped out from the Top University of Asia, National University of Singapore, voluntarily because I don't see the point of spending my time and thousands of dollars to acquire a piece of paper which will be used to get myself into rat race.

Some of you may not agree with me on this. But it's okay...

jerry huang

The reason I'm able to do so is because I'm making a living from blogging.

I managed to build a 4-Figure Monthly Passive Income at just 21 years old without any College degree or working experience.

Here's my commission for the month of October 2018:

affiliate commissions oct 2018

My August 2018 Commission thanks to Wealthy Affiliate!

In total, I made USD$6,267 in October 2018.

It's not a very big number like what many successful bloggers are making. But it can be considered a pretty good income for many people, especially for a 21 year old, right?

I think my success story here is enough to prove that people DO make money blogging.

It's real. And a 21-year-old College dropout can do it!

What's even more interesting is that I'm not a writer and I suck at writing.

English is my second language, yet it's still possible for me to be a full-time blogger.

So, there's no doubt that YOU can also make money blogging. In fact, there's no excuse for you not to blog & make money online.

The question now is...HOW?

Before I go into the details about how to make money blogging and how to get started, I would like to invite you to watch my video here where I'll share with you exactly what's my strategy of creating a 4-Figure monthly passive income at 21 years old.

6 Ways to Make Money Blogging

There are hundreds of ways to monetize your blog. But these are just the 6 of the most common ways...

1. Ads Networks

One of the most common ways for bloggers to make money is by placing Ads on their blogs.

There are 2 main types of Ads:

(1) CPC/PPC Ads

CPC stands for Cost Per Click and PPC stands for Pay Per Click.

Basically, for this type of Ads, you get paid a few cents to a few dollars whenever your visitor clicks on the Ads.

This is usually in the form of banners.

The most common network to get CPC Ads is from Google AdSense.

Other alternatives include:

This is one of the most straight forward ways to make quick money. But the problem is that the earning potential is pretty small unless your blog has lots of regular visitors.

This is also one of the biggest misconceptions among the newbie bloggers. They are too impatient to start putting Ads on their blog. Some even implement lots of Ads all together.

They thought that's the way to make more money. But in the end, they start to get frustrated when they don't see significant income coming in, which is very normal for beginners.

(2) CPM Ads

CPM stands for Cost Per 1,000 Impressions.

This is just a modified version of CPC. Instead of visitors clicking your Ad, you get paid when your Ad is being viewed 1,000 times.

"Being viewed" means that they don't need to click on it. It's counted as one impression if your page with the Ad is being loaded.

Again, the pros and cons of this is the same as CPC above. It's more for blogs with higher traffic.

2. Sell Private Ads

Selling private Ads basically means that you're "renting" a space of your blog to someone or some company.

Think of this like renting a real estate and you're the owner.

Your blog is your online real estate. If companies want to advertise on your blog, they have to pay a fee to you. That's private Ads.

Private Ads can be in the form of banners, buttons, links or even sponsored posts.

For example, there have been people reaching out to me requesting me to put a link in my blog posts and they're willing to pay hundreds of dollars per month for that if you're blog get lots of traffic.

But take note!

Putting Ads on your blog is NOT the best way to monetize your blog.

Yes, it can be an additional income source. But it's not going to make you thousands of dollars every month for most bloggers, unless your blog is extremely popular.

Earning hundreds or even up to a thousand dollars per month from Ads can be considered pretty successful.

If you want to make thousands of dollars per month PASSIVELY, you have to pay attention to the next method...

3. Affiliate Marketing

This is the most exciting part about blogging.

Affiliate Marketing is the business model which can allow you to make thousands or even millions of dollars as a blogger.

Just take a look at this blog, this girl made $1.5 Million from her blog. A huge part of that income comes from Affiliate Marketing.

The best part of affiliate marketing is that it is running on autopilot once you set it up. Your website will be working for you.

It's also the business model that I use to create my own 4-Figure monthly passive income stream at 21 years old.

I'm definitely going to scale it up to 5-figure and eventually 6-figure!!

I won't be going in detail about how affiliate marketing works and how to get started because I've a step-by-step guide here which will walk you through on that 🙂

4. Sell Your Own Product

Affiliate Marketing is basically selling other people's products and earn a commission whenever someone purchases products through your affiliate link.

Another way for you to make money blogging is by selling your own product, be it physical or digital. (I'll personally recommend digital because you can automate the entire business and get paid recurring passive income.)

For example, as you become more familiar in your blogging niche, you can create your own online course teaching people about the subject you specialize in.

Again, the potential of this is huge because you're keeping 100% of the profit.

5. Personal Branding

As you become more experienced in blogging and in your niche, more and more people will recognize you as the expert in this area.

If you're constantly branding yourself, building credibility and establishing yourself as the authority in the niche, more and more opportunities will come to you.

For example, people may start asking you to author a book, speaking at certain events, having partnership with certain people/company, things like that.

Can you start to see the snowball effect as you become the authority in your niche?

6. Sell Your Blog

Last but not least, the best way to get immediate cashflow is by selling your blog.

Let me give you a quick example...

make money blogging

This girl sold her blog for $28,000 after setting up the blog for 13 months. And she only worked on the blog for about 6 months in total.

That's a fantastic results!
